I love salt, almost as much as I love sweets. For many of my meals, I like to sprinkle a little on my food to add just a hint of flavor. I know it's not healthy to use a lot of salt, especially because high blood pressure runs in my family, but everything's fine in moderation, right? So tell me . . .

I never add salt, I guess there's enough of it hidden in some of the stuff I eat so adding some would be too much.
Btw since I stopped adding salt my palate became very senstive so I don't feel the need for it and when I eat the food my boyfriend makes (he loves salt) it's sometimes quite impossible for me to bear.
I've never understood people's obsession with it. I add spices because they have more flavor and don't bloat.
didn't use to, but since i moved to UK cooks and chefs don't really salt the food just in case people don't eat salt, so you have to do it yourself. i always salt my salads too much...
I think it very silly and a bit stupid to obsess about your saltintake, everyone knows that its not a big deal if you don't eat processed foods which actually contains too much salt. Its usually unhealthy people who eat sugar, butter and such who'll obsess about something as innocent as salt! Seriously people just have to eat healthy natural foods and by all means, sprinkle some salt on the food, it enhances the flavour!
I work in a restaurant and one thing that drives me absolutely nuts is people who salt (and pepper) their food without even tasting it first!
I used to salt EVERYTHING... but I gave up adding salt to my food for lent one year, and after not having it for those several weeks, I don't miss it anymore. I appreciate the taste of the actual food now. Same thing with soda - gave it up for lent because I was drinking it every day, and now I hardly drink it at all.
We salt while cooking, so I never need to add.
i never add any salt, i use garlic powder instead.
Uch..I despise the taste of salt. So much so that I'll actually send food back at a restaurant if it's too salty. I have a crazy sweet tooth though, and can't say no to sugar. I have this colleague who puts salt on EVERYTHING. She's a very large woman who eats and drinks in excess and pays for it immensely with her appearance. Not only if she incredibly overweight, but she looks about a decade older than she is. I literally see her put mass amounts of salt on everything she eats, including her desserts (no joke). If that doesn't turn you off of salt, I wonder what will?
My mom and my brother always bombard their french fries with salt, and my brother is especially bad. He takes at least two little packets and just dumps it all on. Whenever he picks up a fry, salt goes everywhere. I think it's gross. I prefer pepper, anyway, but I know not to overdo it. You're supposed to be tasting the food, not the salt!
No, I've always hated too much salt. It almost hurts my mouth if there's too much of it (like pretty much any flavor, even sugar). I very rarely ever add salt to anything. My mom always has and she said that I eat like I'm Amish because of how little salt I like. Huh?
I'll add a salty foods like pickles and olives to a meal, but never salt.
I love salt. My body actually craves sodium especially in the summer as I run cross country and track and sweat like crazy, so I lose a lot of salt (gross I know but you can actually see it on my skin and clothes after a long hot run). So I salt everything and I love it!
I do love salty foods (I could probably eat french fries for every meal) but I stay away from it. I tend to play with all different types of spices when I cook instead of pouring on the salt.
Salt bothers me. Now if this had been a question of how much I pepper stuff...
Nope, never. I prefer adding herbs.
I do, lightly, when home cooking from scratch, which is about 90% of the time. I LOVE using salts from different parts of the world. The differences in taste, texture, and color are amazing!
I crave salt too, especially after working out. I sweat a lot and I'm sure that I'm losing plenty of electrolytes. I don't use a TON of salt on my food, but I use some if I really crave it. I'm able to use less salt by mixing it with herbs and garlic...they really spice up my food without the sodium.
only on my baked potatoes...
love salt. i know its bad. but i really like it.
usually only when there's barley any salt on the food though
Am I the only person who has the problem of actually needing to add salt to things? I only eat unprocessed foods, nothing packaged, everything I cook myself... So if I forget to add salt, I wind up eating about 500 mg of sodium a day... and I exercise regularly, so its actually unhealthy how little salt I eat some days... Anyone else share this issue?
I salt things just a bit ( slow salt shaker two shakes
)
when I cook things but not in general no.
I use mineral-rich sea salt. Table salt is very harmful; sea salt is not.
Oh my goodness - if I could stop I would, but I am so freakin' liberal with my salt - woah!
danceintherain: I'm the same, most of the food I eat is unprocessed and cooked at home, so my salt intake would be very low as well if I didn't add it myself. I tend to have quite low blood pressure too and was told by my doctor "Don't be afraid to add salt to your food", so I don't think it's always a negative thing to do! The only times that I would hold back on adding salt to a savoury meal is if it's homemade soup that I've made using a store-bought vegetable stock or a stirfry with soy sauce, since both of those items already have a salt content. But otherwise, if I'm cooking with fresh vegetables and fruit and lean vegetarian protein, I add the salt myself and don't stress about it.
I don't care much for salt and don't own a salt shaker.
I use salt while cooking, I think everything needs salt and pepper to taste good. I add a little salt to my salads, trust me, it makes a world of difference! If my food needs salt, I'll use a little.
I use much less these days, and to be honest, I can't really tell the difference!
I use salt and pepper on everything. I don't think it's bad...I think the real culprit is processed foods. Some of them can have up to 50% or more of your daily sodium intake in just one meal! I cook a lot at home, and I always add salt.
I prefer adding lemon and or some kind of hot sauce (which i guess has some salt in it)
I harp on my husband all the time for pre-salting his food before he tastes it. I add salt when I'm cooking, but not usually outside of that. And I definitely don't add salt when eating out, most of that food is already so salted anyway...
i kinda have to i have low blood pressure
I never add salt to anything expect the paper napkin at the bar/pub to keep my glass from sticking to the napkin
