Sometimes things get in the way of our exercise routine: rain, allergies, a cold, even a vacation. Do you know how long you can take off from your cardio routine before you notice a difference in your fitness level?

I don't know about cardio, but I took 2 weeks off from weight training and it was as if my biceps and delts disappeared!
1Woohoo I got it right! This seems like something that would vary on the person, though...
2Oops got it wrong!
It's amazing how 2 weeks can just pass without you realising it.
3I slighly disagree with this. As a trainer and fitness instructor, it is correct that it takes about 2 weeks of no training for you to notice a decline in your strength level. However, people begin to lose cardiovascular fitness/endurance if they rest from exercise for more than 2 days. That is why we tell people to do cardio at least 3-4 times a week. If you do less than that, then you're resting for more than 2 days, which hurts your progress and drops your fitness level.
4Yeah, i have been told by trainers that you begin to lose cadiovascular fitness after 72 hours on inactivity. I think that the 2 weeks number is misleading. It will give people excuses galore.
5I thought this was a question based on your own opionion instead of one based on facts, like the correct or incorrect. I'm glad I picked the correct one, and it sounds just about right in my case.
6I agree with nikolem2 & go4it - I thought that you start to lose cardio fittness/endurance after atleast 2 days of not working out. Nothing drastic, but you'll start to lose progress. I think I also read it somewhere in Self Magazine.
7i remember hearing the 2 weeks thing a LONG time ago on body by jake. remember him? i wonder if he's still around...
