So many celebs have had cosmetic surgery. Of course, they have the dough to pay for it, plus the pressure to look amazing 24-7.

What if you could have a nose job, liposuction, breast implants, or a face lift for pennies? Would you do it?

I really don't know. I'm more worried about the health complications or death than the price of the procedures.
1I think I would rather get a personal trainer and dermatologist (sp?) etc.. before doing plastic surgery. I issues I have with my body I could change with a little bit of time with a trainer and a good skin treatment etc...
2when im old and haggard why not?
3i'm with classy, i think i would hire a permanent personal trainer
and maybe get my nose done
4I was really heavy when i got boobs, and now that i've dropped a lot of weight, my boobs are less perky than they should be. I wouldn't get an augmentation, but probably a lift.
5I've always kind of dreamed of a nose job--- i am mjust more scared i'll hate it than worried about the cost. After i have kids i'll get a boob lift cause i hear they wreck havoc on the girls
TINA!
6I've always been against Cosmetic Surgery. A lot of friends are very surprised about this, but I really oppose the idea of changing a face artifically permanently using surgery for superficial means.
Of course, if I'm disfigured because of an accident or something, I'd definitely use surgery to help reconstruct my face.
7Yeah, a lot of celebs have come out of surgery not looking better than they did before (Ashlee Simpson, apparent exception to that). And I think that, like makeup, if you can see the plastic surgery, it's not a good thing.
8I might consider having Plastic Surgery in the future if my breasts stay as small as they are now (32A) and maybe get a noce job if my nose starts looking like my moms. But I don't think so, I'm really scared of the risks and I think it would be awkward if everyone knew I had gotten Plastic Surgery, so who know
9I would love to get plastic surgery, but im too scared of complications. One day I will get something done. I dont think theres any shame in admitting youve had plastic surgery , or getting plastic surgery. I just hate when people go to far and look silly like Micheal Jackson.
10Yes, but I'd wait until after I have children. Heck - I'll probably still get plastic surgery after I have children, anyway. It's not anyone's business and if that's what I have to do to make me feel like I'm the best me, then that's what I'll do!
11I would get a tummy tuck if my stomach didn't spring back after having a child. I wouldn't want loose skin around my waist.
12To all of you thinking of getting a nose job - let me caution you. I had surgery on my nose for health reasons (deviated septum - not getting enough air through my nose). It was *painful* for a long time. (Worst part - due to complications they had to do rhinoplasty, too. I *could* have had my dream nose if they told me before hand that that would've been an option)
Although I'm really not happy with my nose right now, the memory of that pain is enough to keep me from doing it. So don't imagine it's "just a quick fix". Expect a week of extreme painfulness, followed by a month of dull, headache-inducing pain.
If it weren't for the pain, I'd do it in a heartbeat, though
13Well, there's no such thing as "minor" surgery, so it seems like a silly reason to put yourself at risk. Then again, I'm pretty pleased with my face overall, and what I'm not pleased with I'm not sure if plastic surgery can even fix that well. Unless they can. But even then, I probably wouldn't. Just feels too weird.
14I would. I've broken my nose twice when I was a child (my parents didn't have the money to get cosmetic surgery to fix it so I've got a major bump). I've learned to live with it but I'd definitely get the surgery if I had the money.
15Same here Ashlyn, Ive broken my nose three times. I cant wait for a nose job to fix the giant bump I have now, its only the money thats holding me back!
16Oddly enough, I don't think I would. I'm pretty secure about my body.
17
Yeah, Baby!
18I'm pretty comfortable with my body as it is, fortunately, and don't have any great dread of aging, either. My career doesn't depend on me not having wrinkles.
I've also seen too many pictures of celebrities and others coming out looking worse than they
did before, or superficilly "better" but plasticized and weird. I could see doing reconstructive surgery after an accident or something, but not anything else.
19I think I would do anything that make ME feel good, things from eating healthy, working out, and if needed, a little help from a Plastic Surgeon for sure!
20I had to have lumps removed from both breasts, the surgeon removed far too much breast tissue and as a result my boobs looked really wonky and awful.
21I had a breast augmentation to correct the damage. I chose the smallest implants possible and they look nice, but the fact that I have fake boobs makes me a bit sad. Especially when I hear people talking about how horrible and superficial women with "plastic" bodies are.
I don't think I'd have anything else done.
No. I think Ashlee looked better before the PS. Now she looks like a totally different person...a cookie cutter hollywood type.
22I have always wanted a nose job and would get one in a hearbeat. I do not know about cheap though...you get what you pay for and with plastic surgery that is scary!!
23Magica, your situation is different...don't be ashamed, it's not like you had a choice! And every time someone looks down on people who've gotten plastic surgery, you can use your story to make them feel guilty.
24I think those pictures of Ashlee Simpson don't represent how weird her new look is AT ALL. Well, she did look weird when she first got the surgery. The person who found those pictures was obviously a fan.
I think most of us are too young to be thinking about plastic surgery too much. If I get old and nasty, I might do it.
yes. no doubt. i'd get my neck lipo-ed. i'm sick of double chins! and after i have kids, i'd totally get a boob job, maybe a tummy tuck if i needed it. i don't worry about the health problems, since cosmetic surgery is such a common thing now.
p.s. i think it's so great that ashlee simpson got her nose done to look just like mine. at least i know i'll never have to get mine done!
25Seems like there are lots of non-surgical projects to tackle first. Fix the diet, work out more, take better care of your skin, stop smoking, get more sleep. Thank god I don't have to look like a movie star, 24/7, for the rest of my life. Too much pressure!
26I would tomorrow. I actually plan on it later down the road, though.
27i wouldn't do anything to my face, but i would love a chin lift and liposuction around the ole hip n' thigh area.
28No, I would never alter my face or body to fit the societal view of beauty. I believe it's wrong and insanely shallow to do so unless you are having corrective surgery for a disfigurement of some kind. It amazes me how mainstream this has become. It is sad, really.
29I would consider a tummy tuck. I've had four kids, and I'm still in my 20's, and I'm sad that I can't wear a bikini anymore. I'm in great shape, but I have stretch marks and my stomach is just really soft now. Basically, I don't think it's nearly as bad to try to fix something that's gotten messed up, but I wouldn't go trying to change anything. I def. wouldn't have facial surgery unless I was injured or something.
30Thanks misogi
31Nope. I'm happy with my scrawny but ogre-esque look! haha. If I ever got consmetic surgery done for vanity purposes, I wouldn't be able to recognize myself as "me" whenever I look into the mirror.
32I don't think I have any problems with my body that warrant plastic surgery- a dermatologist and a trainer would serve me better than a surgeon would... It's crazy to put yourself at risk unless it's for reconstructive purposes. Maybe when I'm really old, I'll think differently.
33I would do lipo. Yep definately. I want a flat stomach.
34I agree - the health risks aren't worth it - even if it were cheap! But if people are truly unhappy with their self image, and diet and exercise can't help, then cosmetic surgery might be the answer.
I had a friend with really big breasts for her frame and she hated the way guys looked at her and called her inappropriate names. She hated her boobs EVERY day, and it was so bad for her self-image. Since she gt a breast-reduction, I've never seen her so happy!
35But FitSugar, I've yet to meet anyone who had a breast reduction solely for cosmetic or even self-esteem reasons. I had one at age 20 and need another one at 30 (they were NOT supposed to grow back, and no, I don't have kids), and it was a decision I made mostly for medical reasons. Many reduction patients have the same story I do. I had serious muscle development issues in my back and chest, I had back problems, and I couldn't even breathe properly to sing. I was 5'3", 120 pounds, and a 34DDD, possibly even an E. Many insurance companies cover reductions if a surgeon knows he or she will be removing a certain amount of tissue.
After my surgery, I was a 34C for a long time, and then at 25 I woke up one morning at 34D. At 30 I'm a 34DD and am considering another reduction because even though I'm stronger now, I still have back problems, back down to a C, but money is an issue.
36I probably would have gotten a nose job already. I go through phases where I think about it a lot, and then I don't. I even went as far as getting names of plastic surgeons reccommended by other doctors of mine. But I think when I think about it most is when my self esteem is low anyway, and I just kind of blame my nose for it. Right now it's not bothering me as much though.
I'd also get lipo on my hip/lovehandle area, because they are such a problem area for me and no matter how much weight I lose or how much I try to tone them NOTHING works!
37I know I have flaws all over my body, but I don't care. Whatever I can't change by exercise, diet and healthy living I will keep. My mother has had lipo, gastric bypass, tummy tuck, implants, and is getting ready for a facelift and she's not even 45 looking like a deformed Barbie. I had surgery on my eardrums when I was five to prevent complete deafness, but plastic surgery in most cases is not something I would do. Maybe if I was burned beyond recognition, but other than that no.
38Ha! You "young Chickies" sound like me back in the day.
I would never have imagined "going under the knife" for anything except life threatening situations. Heck, I even did natural childbirth...
That was then.
After 6 pregnancies, 4 children, lost boobs, saggy chin, and potbelly... in spite of being just 125 lbs. and 5'5". I changed my tune. I had the chin and boobs fixed for my 40th Birthday and the tummy tucked for my 50th (my MD said that I could have exercised 24/7 and gotten nowhere with the tummy because my abdominals had separated.) Then I had my makeup permanently applied...
How do I feel about it all now? Great!! :ANEGYPTIAN:
I don't feel shallow and a slave to the artificial beauty mandates of today's society. I feel liberated! I can wear any bikini, skirt, pants, dress, or top and not have to look at myself sideways to see what's hanging out and what isn't. I do not waste even one minute of any day fixing, hiding, primping or being self conscioius. I'm off running my business, volunteering and taking classes.
No, I'm not addicted to plastic surgery. I'm feeling like I'm done, except if maybe my eyelids drooped so far over my eyeballs that I could not see where I was going.
Now my motto is "If the barn needs painting - paint it!"
and I'd say that this 'ol barn is pretty much aluminum sided...
39smart blonde - how does that occur?? isnt it supposed to be permanent, didnt your doc have an ans to why?? sorry for the qns, im just really curious! (im busty myself)
40suzanne - LOVE IT! im with you on this one. im only 21 this year, but i already believe in your mantra
41HELL YEAAAAA I WILL ILL GET MY BUTT DONE AND MAYBE MY NOSE BUT MY BUTT IS A SURE THING
42I would say no right now... but who knows? I don't know how I'll feel about it in the future.
43No.
44maybe i'll get it done someday if i can afford it.
45I would, and I know exactly what spot on my body needs to be "involved".
46FitSugar/Smartblonde: I'm 23, wear a size 4, and my bra is a size 32EE. I despise my breasts almost everyday. I hate the comments I receive, I very rarely wear anything too low-cut for that reason. I have tried to get my insurance to cover a reduction with no luck and I can't afford one on my own. And nobody really understands it either, it IS a self-esteem thing for me which not many people really understand.
47I agree with classy.I might get a nose job just because I don't like how my nose looks
