I really can't take much more of this. The recent pet food recall from Menu Foods was so sad, with all those poor cats and dogs getting sick and passing away. It looks like bad wheat gluten wasn't the only problem. The FDA announced that ANOTHER ingredient - rice protein concentrate - was also contaminated. This time the industrial chemical melamine is the culprit.
A different brand is affected this time, so listen up: a variety of Natural Balance Pet Foods products for both dogs and cats is being recalled.
If you use Natural Balance Venison and Brown Rice canned or bagged dog food, Venison and Brown Rice dog treats, or Venison and Green Pea dry cat food - STOP USING THEM IMMEDIATELY!!
Fit's Tips: Here's a list of all the brands that have been recalled. If you are unsure about what to feed your hungry pet, talk to your veterinarian.

WOW! So basically the question NOW is what Pet Foods CAN you feed your dog?! Unbelievable...
1I recommend Wellness to everyone I know. My 10 month old puppy eats wellness and he's the picture of health, everyone comments on his beautiful coat and energy
He only eats kibble, so that's all I can say anything about. Check out their food though and
take a look at the ingrediants. It's comforting when you yourself would eat most of the main ingredients. B-Bop Loves it!
Per their website, here's the ingredients for the wellness puppy food:
Ingredients
Deboned Chicken, Chicken Meal, Oatmeal, Ground Barley, Salmon Meal (natural source of DHA-Docosahexaneoic acid), Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of vitamin E), Ground Brown Rice, Tomato Pomace, Rice Bran (from brown rice), Tomatoes (natural source of Lycopene), Natural Chicken Flavor, Rye Flour, Carrots, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Ground Millet, Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride.
It also has a ton of minerals and vitamins.
2The place we got our pup (the pound) and the vet both recomennded Science Diet, but I recently found out that they get stuff for pushing certain foods, so it's hard to know who to trust. I learned about wellness from reading a lot on-line and talking to other pet owners.
I hope everyones pets are okay and aren't getting sick off the new food. I don't know what I would do if B-Bop got sick. Take Care!
Nothing is safe anymore! My coby has never eaten anything from Menu Foods and was on Solid Gold up until almost a month ago when I switched him over to Natural Balance Potato and Duck due to his allergies. It doesn't have any wheat gluten or rice in it so it is not affected but it still makes me worry...so I'm still deciding wether I will continue to purchase this brand or not, especially when he's doing so well on it. It makes me really sad that I have to be so scared about what my dog is eating
3I was feeding my dogs Natural Balance, but now I make their food at home. Its definitely a lot more work, but its safer & better for them!
In fact, I'm starting my own home made pet food business now!
