What would you do if you learned that you have the genetic marker, known as BRCA gene mutation, for breast cancer and you had a 95 percent of developing the disease? Filmmaker Joanna Rudnick decided to make a documentary film about the dilemma facing her, like having prophylactic mastectomies, and many other women who have been confronted with the information that they have the genetic disposition to develop the disease. Here's the trailer for the film that premieres tonight on PBS.

You can check your local listing at the POV website. My PBS station is playing it tonight, Oct. 1, and tomorrow as well.

I can't even imagine. I'm definitely setting my TIVO for this tonight. I'll probably cry the whole way through it, but it looks incredible.

I have no family history of breast cancer, which leads me to believe that I probably don't have the BRCA1 gene mutation, but I think if I DID have the mutation, I'd have prophylactic mastectomies to prevent getting cancer later on in life.
