This weekend, I shopped vicariously through my husband. He bought himself a sweet road bike, after riding on an old (read heavy) mountain bike for years. This new bike cost a pretty penny, but he sold a bunch of old musical equipment to cover the costs. His beautiful bike got me thinking about fitness gear and gadgets; some are quite costly, but seem so helpful.

So tell me . . .

I've got a good ol' elliptical. I've had it for years now and it cost me about $300... worth every penny!
1Fluidity bar. That I hardly use.
2Elliptical that I bought at a used sporting goods store and still had tags on it. My ipod was free through fiance's work.
3my iPod right now is probably the most expensive thing that i have since i have an iTouch. i don't really go all out on expensive gear for my workouts - i have good shoes, but i usually wait until some of the styles are on sale since i rotate shoes so often, and that way i can be a bit more economical about things.
4My climbing wall in my garage.
5I have a treadmill that is the most expensive in my Fitness Gadgets, and then my stationary bike that its price is like only 1/10 of my treadmill's. I also have a stair stepper. All of them are kind of expensive in my country.
6I have a $600 treadmill that I used for about a week. My daughter uses it now, so it wasn't a total waste.
7My $500 elliptical...love it!
8I voted running shoes. My ipod was more expensive but the shoes have to be replaced more than my ipod, so it's more of an expense. I have splurged on Stella fitness fashion, but it was all on sale--or off of ebay.
9I wish I had a GPS! I agree with javsmav on the ipod vs shoes- I voted ipod but she's right, shoes in the end add up whereas I've only owned an ipod shuffle and a nano in the last 3yrs which total cost is cheaper than the $$ I've spend on shoes in that same time!
10it's funny that it's always said "my ipod" instead of "my mp3/music player". sometimes i have the feeling that this website is sponsored by apple
11however, my most expensive gadget/gear is my bike, followed by my speed skates.
I have a rebounder which cost about $400. It was a little pricey, but I do still use it, so it was worthwhile.
12My bike is by far the most expensive thing, since I dropped several thousand on it, but I was recently told I had the Royle's Royce of road bikes, so that made feel pretty cool.
13My mountain bike is not nearly as pricey as my husbands, but was still pricey....it was a very good investment because climbing is so much easier now.
14i love good sneakers... i love getting a new pair every few months also because i can totally tell when they are fresh and ready for some intense exercise.
15Oh man... my wetsuit was $300, my Garmin was $250, the road bike I bought (used) was $500 .. I'd say my entrance fee into Ironman Cozumel -- $550!
16I wear MBT shoes almost all the time and they aren't cheap. My mother started me with a total fitness footwear obsession so I also wear Orthotebb's and Fit-Flops.
17my horse!
riding helps keep me fit (and the barn chores--and there are MANY-- don't hurt, either).
18my bike was about $3000, so definitely that
19My sneakers, but I really want a bike.
20Hubby insisted I get a really nice road bike--because his is really $$--it was about $1800. I rode for one season, then was pregnant, now it's a really expensive exercise bike on a $200 trainer in my basement.
21I saved up about 3 yrs of "health/fitness account" money where I worked and bought a Total Trainer (like a Total Gym). I kicked in a little money but it cost hundreds and since has gone down in price, but it's the best piece of equipment.
I've had it for over 10 years and still works great (uses your own weight so no electronics). I keep it in the living room where a coffee table should be (in an apt) and watch TV while working out. Ordered a pilates attachment this year for it. Beats all the new gadgets they've come out with over the years.
22My personal trainer that I see 3x a week until Xmas! She's more than my monthly rent but SO worth it.
My touring bike - $1200 after all the mods I made.
23I have a cheapie elliptical machine that was like, $300. When it dies, I'll probably just buy a new one. I WISH I had a Precor elliptical, but I can't afford the $3000-$4000 price tag they have.
24I suppose my $350+ arcteryx backpack. It was a wedding present and gives me all sorts of freedom to wander in the backcountry with a great dose of comfort.
25Hmm...currently, my road bike, which was around $3,500.
A couple of years ago, my horse.
26Other - my gym membership! lol, does that count?
27my gym membership! it costs so much a month but the location's perfect, the gym's so nice, and i'm able to do so many different things that i really don't mind shelling out 200 a month!
28I spent $4,000 on my tri bike. It was worth every penny.
