I woke up well before the 6:00 a.m. start time of my spin class and was rearing to go when I arrived at the gym. My motivation was not completely dashed when I saw the "Instructor sick. Class canceled" sign on the door.
I opened my gym bag in the locker room, only to realize that I had no sneakers and no swimsuit. All my bag had to offer were my biking cleats, now rendered useless since the spin bikes were locked behind closed doors. I had worn my clogs to the gym, and although they're super comfy, they're no good for lifting weights or running on a treadmill.
Learn from my mistake and pack your gym bag full of backup gear. Keep your almost worn-out sneakers in the bag, as well as your second favorite swimsuit. So next time you're at the gym facing the disappointment of a canceled class you can just switch gears and cross train.

the EXACT same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago -- but i was wearing flip flops, not clogs
1i have been carrying my running shoes w/ me since then, just in case, but it is a pain. it's a 20-minute walk to my gym and the added weight (especially at 6 am) is not welcome!
this is definitely something smart - since things don't always work out as planned. for me luckily - i usually just require the same type of gear to work out but i can commiserate with you.
actually the other day one of my co-workers went to the gym only to discover that she forgot shorts/pants to work out in - so she had to turn around and come back to the office - sans workout.
2I did this while wearing flip flops too, but I didn't even have a canceled class as an excuse. I just forgot them.
3Yet another reason why I love having a home gym. If I forget something, I can just run upstairs and grab it, lol.
4I hate when that happens. My issue is finding a bag big enough to pack everything. I walk about 1.5 miles to the gym and a backpack is easiest.
5it happend to me once ever seance i never remove the shoe from the bag ...
