You know and love Eva Longoria Parker from watching Desperate Housewives. Her character Gabrielle has always been notably petite and toned, so when an actress with that physique gains a few pounds, rumors start flying. The media continues to pry and ask Eva when her baby is due,
and Longoria Parker has attempted to put the speculations to rest by saying, "I'm just fat." The actress only gained 10 pounds! She's gone from a size 00 to a size 0. Since when is size 0 considered too big? Um, I don't know which is worse — the media making a big deal about Eva getting slightly plumper or the fact that she called herself fat. At 5'2", she'd have to weigh over 136 pounds in order to be considered overweight when it comes to BMI. Gabby is still a twig, and personally, I can't even tell she's gained weight.
I think it is good for Eva's health that she's added a few pounds to her frame. Extreme thinness is not healthy and it's important for every woman, especially the young ones, to see actresses with curves.

That comment was obviously tongue in cheek. She was just commenting on the ridiculousness that a small weight gain sparked so many rumors. I don't think Eva actually considers herself fat.
1Damn 10 pounds! I seriously can't see any before/after difference on her!
2obviously you don't pay a much attention to tabloids, but that photo that you posted doesn't show anything that made the rumours come out. http://bittenandbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/eva_longoria_08_wen... look at this one and then think if the post makes sense anymore.
3those gossip rags made it appear to be greater than 10 lbs.
4I saw her on French TV two weeks ago and she was once again asked : "Are you pregnant". She answered "No, I'm just fat". I think she simply wanted to put an end to the rumour with a one-liner. And the audience actually burst out laughing.
5And then "Eva says she's fat" was all over the Internet and tabloids.
You shouldn't forget the tone and context of her saying this.
I don't think she's fat at all--I think she's pregnant! I mean in some pictures she does have a little bump, and when most people gain weight its all over, not just in one spot on their stomach! I think she could stand to gain a few pounds--but if she's having a baby good for her!
6You're right allytta, that photo really does make her appear much bigger.
7I know that she was joking but to say something like that makes it seem like she does have some body dismorphic issues - after all, why should she even comment that she has gained weight? does she really think that these few pounds actually changed her physique in the least? she's still tiny and I really hope she knows it
8happs - it really depends on your body type. The first place (and really only place) I gain weight is in my belly. So it's not that easily explained.
And Fit makes a great point at her height and body physique even 10 pounds can look like a lot more.
9You would think that with so many celebs getting crap for their weight these days, some of them would learn to keep their mouths shut. She's obviously not fat and joking or not, it's just not the healthiest image to be projecting when you're in the public eye...
10I have to agree with syako ... I gain my weight in my tummy. I look like I'm carrying a baby the size of a melon sometimes. When people say I got fat, my response is "No, I'm having [insert kimchi, steak, potatoes, or whatever food I just had] babies."
11that's kind of what happens in hollywood though. even if you gain a few pounds, people will speculate. if you wear flowy clothes people talk. i guess that's just all part of the way that things happen. i can't believe that she was a 00 though - she looks tiny but not THAT tiny.
12if shes fat that I'm the michelin man
Good grief.
13I'm the same way, I only gain weight around the middle. Lord I can't even imagine the horrible things people would say about me if I was in the limlight. Thank goodness I'm not. I think her quote isn't meant to be taken seriously and I think it shows she has a good sense of humor!
14I find it very sad that the media is making a big deal of this. I didn't even notice a difference in her body. This is a sad world that Hollywood rules women's weight. Know one should have to loss or gain wait for a role. It is your acting ability that matters most. Or it should.
15Amen, FitSugar! I totally agree! The media is out of line but I was so disappointed when I read she called herself "fat". Absolutely ridiculous!
16yeahhh i kinda feel bad about myself being 5'2'' and 130...
17everyone seems to forget there that she's famous for being pretty and petite and any gain weight make her cheaper. she's a star and they're supposed to stay this way. that's just how it works.
18I do still feel like she might be preggers..why is she always wearing something that could possible disguise her belly, like that ruffly silver dress above...and she said she had to gain weight for DH, but they are putting a fat suit on her anyways...so why would she have to put on weight??? For her remarks about being fat, I find them annoying and unnecessary. That makes people feel bad, if she feels fat, than what am I. She could have said...no I just put on a little etc.
19fat??? where?!??!?
20Thank you for saying this! I have been so annoyed with this, and wish she would shut up about it.
21if Eva Longoria actually thought she was fat, she wouldn't leave the house.
22First of all- she's NOT fat by any stretch of the imagination. She's not as super-skinny as she once was, okay...but FAT?!?!? When I first read what she said, I giggled because it was obvious that she was making fun of the media's obsession with her gaining a few pounds. Secondly, I wish that the media would stop pushing to get the first "news" that someone is pregnant. From everything that I've learned, it's best for a woman not to announce her pregnancy until after the three month mark because of the likeliness of miscarriage etc. I really think that line should be respected. There would be nothing worse than headlines about so-and-so's pregnancy, only for them to have to announce a miscarriage two weeks later. Let them announce when they're safe, sure and ready.
23I agree that she said it as a one line comeback to the neverending pregnancy questions.
24I agree -- her comment was tongue in cheek. Also, I don't think she's fat either. Relative to her previous condition, she's under-excercised, but not fat. There's a difference.
25Yeah, she was just being sarcastic...If someone thought I was pregnant when I gained 10 lbs, I think I'd be pretty pissed too.
26haha bengalspice I have "food babies" too!!
And the comment was definitely tongue in cheek - it's just that sarcasm isn't always obvious on paper, especially with all the context taken out. And think about it - if you were constantly getting asked if you were pregnant, what would you say??
27hahahaha, she's just joking, she's clearly a size zero...the fat comment was basically a "shut up"
ffemt1201, don't feel bad about yourself...you're a beautiful girl =D
