The Biggest Loser Families premiered last night and the five-season formula of the show did not disappoint. I got choked up a couple of times and was inspired by the family teamwork. Watching the teams of two being weighed in simultaneously and seeing how proud the duos were of their loved ones was truly touching.

As a viewer I find the elimination round of the show's opening week more than a little sad. It is amazing to see the dramatic changes that can happen in just seven days of Jillian yelling coaching her team through wall sits and Bob teaching his team the beauty of the treadmill.
The health issues of obesity were highlighted in scared-straight fashion, making it impossible to snack while watching the show. Through computer simulation, contestants were shown the detrimental effects of fat on their vital organs. The two oldest participants were put on exercise restriction, 30 minutes a day, due to health-related problems. That is a serious health problem.
To see who was unfortunately eliminated and how they look today, just read more.
The green team, Adam and Stacey, were voted off because even though they were in the bottom two teams in terms of weight loss the other contestants could see this married couple had the eye of the tiger. They were serious competitors and have done an amazing job since returning home to Ohio.
Stacey and Adam certainly understood the take-home message from the show and changed their lifestyle. They even started Biggest Loser Club at their work.
All in all, I say it was a good season opener and I can't wait to watch the slip-and-slide challenge. So, who do you think is going to win?

Topman
Alexander Wang

I don't know, I can still eat while watching biggest loser. (But I'm not overweight.)
1I don't think I can pick a winner yet. I do love the dad/daughter combo - she really kicked butt to win the first challenge for her dad. Very sweet! Did anyone else notice that a lot of these contestants are quite pretty/handsome? I think TBL is getting more savvy about having attractive contestants, so that as they lose weight, they'll be even more appealing to the audience. Just an observation. Glad you are covering the show this season, Fit. I missed reading your recaps last season.
2what a great show. even at my fitness level of being in good health relatively speaking, i found this show as a great inspiration towards healthy living and facing the facts in life changing ways.. that couple in the video are right in that there is no excuse, and way to go to all who accomplish their fitness goals. and i hope we all can be encouraging to others who need to be healthier in their lives as well
3Last year was awesome mainly because a girl won! It was so encouraging! But mostly I watch this show because I LOVE Bob! He reminds me of my first trainer that I worked witha couple years ago.
4This is the one show my husband and I watch together. I love it! AND last night my husband got the idea of alternating push-ups and sit-ups during commercial breaks! A good idea since neither of us went to the gym yesterday, and I felt healthier while sitting for 2 hours watching the show
5This is the best show on TV (okay, after Mad Men)and I've eagerly been waiting for the premiere. You can just imagine the number of expletives I yelled when I realized my Tivo was set for Biggest Loser: Couples and not Biggest Loser: Families.
6Do you think people chow down like crazy in the time between they're told they're on the show, and the time the show actually starts?
I wonder -- I would assume if they gained 10 quick pounds before going on it would give them some easy weight to lose.
7The transformations and workouts on the show don't happen in just 7 days. The disclaimer on the show, during the end credits, says exactly that.
8plus_2_kid, I'm pretty sure they waterload before the first weigh-in. There's no way someone can lose 28 lbs in a week naturally (even though the TBL "week" lasts 10-14 days).
9This is such an inspirational show to watch. It actually made me get up and lift hand weights and walk in place while I watched.
10I had set my DVR to record the show. It didn't. House got recorded instead, thanks to my sister, and someone cancelled the TBL recording. ARH!
I got into TBL last year and would watch an episode while working on my treadmill. Treadmill broke earlier this year and no TBL recording. So sad. ;-;
Do they have full episodes online somewhere or is it going to be repeated on other days?
