We've all been there. You had to stay late at work for some meeting and by the time you make it home, you're beyond starving. You reach for anything quick you can eat, (which is usually not the healthiest thing), and you end up devouring way more calories faster than you would if you were just slightly hungry. In the future, you want to avoid getting to that famished point. Keep snacks at work, in your desk, in your purse, in your gym bag, or in your car. So when you know it'll be a while till mealtime, you can have a little something in your stomach to tide you over.

I have issues with low blood sugar so I eat every 2 hours to keep from getting sick. I have snacks stashed everywhere: in my car, at my desk, on our boat and in every purse I carry regularly. It's mostly about the sugar issue, but I also tend to binge if I eat when I'm really hungry.
I get that feeling a lot after work! I salivate while passing up burger king which is a block from my apt. I just have to tell myself it's not worth it, and I have food at home (hopefully)
Yes this is soooo true ... if I'm starving, I'll eat too fast or overeat and feel sick afterwards - not to mention this isn't good for you, as I think stuffing yourself at odd/irregular hours continually for years can lead to the development of diabetes (I can't remember where I learned this from - maybe it's not true). I try to keep little snacks lying around - healthy snacks, if I can and eat right before I leave work so I'm not going home with low blood sugar and ransacking my fridge. It's just knowing I have to still cook before I can eat that really puts me off and makes me reach for something instant on my desperate days!
I usually keep healthy snacks with me. My problem is when I am going home from work and I pick up my kids at my mother-in-law and she has unhealthy snacks. Most of the time I just don't eat them but on some occasions, I can't help myself. LOL...
If I wait too long to eat, i get nauseaous. But, as of late, I eat half a lara bar between work and dinner, because that's when i workout. that way, although i am still hungry to eat dinner and just worked out, it takes the edge off so i can concentrate on my workout. btw, billy blanks is a slave driver lol
but sometimes dont have time to snack
I always eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Since I'm eating about every 2 to 3 hours, I don't get too hungry. But I agree, the hardest part is between work and dinner. I too workout after work and then I still have to shower and cook! I'm starving by then!
if i'm famishes i eat considerable less than if i'm just feeling i could have a bite.
It's so weird I read that just now... I'm SO HUNGRY having just gotten back from work, and was debating whether to wait until dinner (within half an hour), or devour a couple of rice cakes in the meantime! Looks like you answered that question for me
i think that we all know eating when you're STARVING is a bad thing seeing as how you'll typically eat more or faster and that's not healthy. it's really hard though when you're always on the go to remember to bring snacks with you or to make sure that you have a time me over while you're out and about instead of waiting until you're famished. i know that i'm guilty of it sometimes, eating too fast when i do eat cause it's not always a good time for me to eat regularly
Ha, this is what my husband does...if he gets too hungry, he'll eat a crapload of random foods: half a block of cheese, a roll of Ritz crackers, handfuls of chips, beer, and other stuff. Then he collapses on the couch in a food coma, lol.
