You've seen the Easter Candy breakdown. You cast your vote for your favorite Easter Candy over on YumSugar...and now you're thinking maybe I should make a healthy Easter Basket. Well you know I am going to second that option. I am going to go so far as to give you some suggestions.
- Carrots - The Easter Bunny likes to share
- Fresh fruit
- Homemade cookies that are filled with healthy ingredients like oats, raisins, dried cranberries, walnuts, and dark chocolate chips
- Bars of Dark chocolate
- Dark chocolate covered peanuts, pretzels, or raisins
- Mini banana bread muffins
- An exercise DVD
- A scented candle
- Hand soap shaped like bird's eggs (my girls love these)
- A jar of all fruit jam
- Granola bars
- A potted plant
- Small picture frames
- Herbal teas and a mug
- A CD of relaxing music
- Silly Putty - it comes in its own egg
- For kids: a coloring book, colored pencils, puzzles, small toys, stuffed bunnies, stickers, play-doh, magnets, disposable cameras, packets of seeds and gardening tools, plastic eggs filled with coins, beads, and books about Easter.
Fit's Tips: I don't believe in denying yourself anything, especially during special family and holiday times. Make sure you do enjoy yourself (and the treats), and try the things you love, just don't go overboard and eat the ENTIRE 12 inch chocolate bunny in one sitting.

Repetto
Forte Forte
Chilli Pepper
Great ideas Fit! I always try to include healthier things along with the yummy, not so good for you things. I love the pic btw.
1I agree with bfly1133-- these are some terrific ideas!
I find myself wishing that my parents had tried to instill me with more healthy habits when I was younger. If I ever have children, you can bet that their Easter baskets will resemble the one you have described for us.
2Where are the Cadbury creme eggs?
3ccsugar, lol.
4What about hard-boiled painted eggs? ... Not that I know anyone that does those anymore! It's all about the candy-filled plastic eggs. (which I am just fine with, as long as they are filled with the right kind of jelly beans!)
5Great ideas! I really like the homemade cookies with healthy ingredients, the dark chocolate covered pretzels (mmmm...), and the hand soap shaped like eggs (VERY CUTE idea btw). You can also get those plastic eggs and fill them up with trail mix (nuts, dried fruit, popcorn...)

@ the bunny cartoon
7Easter for me is more dangerous than x-mas or halloween for eating junk. Maybe stuff is harder to resist on a bed of plastic grass. Great suggestions!
8I would have been really depressed if my mom had put an exercise DVD in my eater basket.
9That bunny cartoon is one of my favorites. It makes me lol every time I see it.
10Give me a break...one weekend of indulging in good, old-fashioned Easter candy won't kill you or make you fat. Carrots in mt basket? I think not.
11My easter basket came with 3 of those things: a puzzle, a candle, and some silly putty.

12The rest were Jelly beans and Reese's eggs. OH and I also got a pair of plastic glasses that have mirrors inside them, so you can "See like a Bunny"
-Bug
Loved the choc bunny cartoon!
