turning the clock around when you go to sleep really does help. I started doing that a long time ago because I kept checking the time when I should have been sleeping.
I've tried all these things before. My problem is my head cause I think WAY too much at bedtime. Even if I'm dead tired it takes me 2-3 hours to get to bed.
Anxiety is probably the thing that causes me to lose sleep the most. Either the bad kind about dealing with mundane task, or the excited kind scheming about all of life's possibilities. When the bad anxiety does get too bad I will resort to a weak valerian tea with the root, cinnamon sticks, and agave nectar. That is a very rare thing but an extreme last resort.
Oh man I am the worst insomniac. I've been like this since my college days, but I've always been a night owl. I'm not willing to take ambien or any of the other serious stuff..and I always have the worst 'tylenol PM hangover' the day after I take it along with generalized irritability. The only thing that's helped me is buying a white noise machine, getting earplugs/eye mask, and chewable tryptophan tablets.
everyone always tries to give me their ideas for what will cure my insomnia and i have to say that nothing ever works the way that it should. i'm almost at the point where i don't even listen to suggestions since i don't have faith that anything will change my sleeping patternsn. i do appreciate the effort for this post though - since you never know - something might be new for me to try - but i'm just not hopeful these days that i'll get a good/full night's rest.
