I recently tried a new flavor of the frozen entrées from Kashi (they're the company that makes those TLC Chewy Granola Bars I love). I loved the Pesto Pasta Primavera so much, and was excited to try another vegetarian option - Black Bean Mango.
As with all of Kashi's products, I was impressed that I could pronounce every ingredient on the list, and they were all things I've heard of like canola oil, ginger, cilantro, and garlic.
I wasn't expecting this entrée to be so deliciously flavorful. It was a combination of sweet from the mangos, and spicy from the jalapeño peppers. The texture was really satisfying too. There were many tender veggies like carrots and red peppers.
There were soft and sweet mangos, and another amazing thing - you could actually see the grill lines on the roasted green peppers and onions. I thought that was a nice touch.
The protein-filled black beans were surrounded not only by rice like you usually see, but also by other chewy whole grains like oats, rye, hard red winter wheat, buckwheat, barley, and sesame seeds.
For a frozen vegan meal, this was very tasty. It only has only 340 calories, 430mg sodium, and no cholesterol (obviously). It also has 430mg of potassium, 8g of protein, 7g of fiber, 150% of your daily vitamin A needs, and 100% of your daily vitamin C needs.

I recommend this 100%. Kashi does such an amazing job of incorporating pure, all natural ingredients, that are full of protein, fiber, and other nourishment. They prepare their products in such a way that respects the food's natural flavors and textures. I love that the grains and veggies are all intact, not overcooked or overly processed. The ingredients look and taste just as if you prepared them yourself.
Fit's Tips: Try heating this up and wrapping it in a flour tortilla with some cheese and you'll have an instant burrito. Or your can heat it up and use it as a delicious dip for tortilla chips.

I STILL can't find the Kashi Entrees!
1i found them in the natural foods aisle of vons. i also saw them at mother's market (in southern california).
2I get them at my ocal health food store. My fiance LOVES the Sweet and Sour Chicken. My fave is the Pesto Pasta with the yellow carrots.
They make the best frozen entrees out of all the other healthy brands because they are so flavorful. Other frozen entrrees can be so bland.
3Mmmm Kashi. I even got my boyfriend to switch from cheerios to their Heart to Heart cereal. Whole grains fill you up so much longer.
4DesignRchic- try http://kashi.com/storelocator.aspx and type in your zip code. I found the black bean mango entree, at a grocery store I least expected, that way. I can't wait to try this new one!! Thanks for posting it, fitsugar!
5The lime shrimp one is REALLY good too.... I can't remember the exact title, I keep them stashed at work in the freezer for days I forget lunch!!!!!
6We even have them at our Walmart & HEB. I like the TLC's (Tasty Little Crackers, cute huh??)...BUT i tried thier frozen waffles and almost threw up at the smell. Tasting it was beyond what I could bring myself to do. I know that's bad, but they were bad. But the crackers are awesome!
7ooo that looks so good! it sucks that they're slightly more expensive than the other healthier frozen dinners like healthy choice, lean cuisine, smart ones, etc.
when in chicago, i went to a chinese food restaurant called joy yee's noodle shop and i got mango chicken fried rice. ohmygod it was amazing.
and i DEFINITELY just finished a bag of dried mango RIGHT NOW AHA
8YAY! this is my favorite one!
9I tried eating Kashi cereal, but apparently my stomach can't tolerate that much fiber...by the end of the day I was miserable.
10Sounds great!
11I just had this entree last week and it really was great!
12am---thank you for the link! I actually found several stores that "carry" them. I'm off to the supermarket tomorrow to see if they have them THANK YOU!!!
13I have thought about this Kashi dinner but now that I've read this review I definitely want to try it! Putting this into a wrap sounds like a wonderful idea also.
