Listening to Fitness Rocks, my favorite health and fitness pod cast, Dr. Monte is always pushing a plant based diet (code for vegetarian who can lapse into the carnivore realm on occasion) for health reasons. So I am trying to eat a little lower on the food chain, but it is a difficult change for me mentally since part of me still believes that meat makes a meal.
So how about you, how often do you eat meat? And yes, bacon does count as meat at least in this poll.

I don't feel like it's a meal unless I have meat. It's just an appetizer to me!
1i haven't eaten red meat in about a year [well, i suppose that is a lie because about once every couple of months i will feel weak and simply crave a couple of bites of my boyfriend's hamburger] and i have cut back on "the other white meat" so that i only eat it about once every couple of weeks.
poultry however is my weakness, i eat that a couple times a week. but hey, it's protein!
2i've been trying to include more fish in my diet. i've also drastically reduced my red meat consumption in the past year or so. i could very happily adapt to a vegetarian diet even though i'm not a vegetarian, but i think it's nice to have the option to eat salmon, chicken, etc. when the mood strikes.
3Fit I LOVE Fitness Rocks!! Such an amazing podcast! What he is saying about a more plant based diet makes a lot of sense but I like having my chicken (or salmon, but I think he would approve) for dinner. One thing to try, I don't know if I heard it from him or another podcast, but start with having one night a week where you don't have meat, if you already do that try 2 nights a week. I love what he is advocating, BUT I love my chicken too!
4Since I moved to the US I don't eat red meat and reduced my chicken ingest noticeably...
5I don't eat meat that often, maybe twice a week.
6I dont like chicken so I try to not eat that but cow? Pig? Haha I one or the other everyday at least once.
7~*~*~ MOM Im Bringing Bubbles back, them other toys dont know how to act! ~*~*~
what's wrong with having chicken or fish for lunch or dinner everyday?
8nothing's wrong with it! i love all types of meat, both red and white. but buying and cooking for one usually means that i don't eat it that often. yummm steak.
9i eat meat almost every day! i usually have steak at least once a week, fish or chicken anywhere from 3-5 times a week.
10I've been steering toward a more plant based diet, or at least trying. There are these amazing Grilled Portabela Mushroom wraps at Jason's Deli that I'm going to try and start making and eating for lunch instead of the usual Turky Sandwich. That way I can cut it down to only eating meat at dinner, and I try to usually keep that chicken (but the BF sometimes is insistant on red meat).
11i'm weird about meat and can't eat anything with a bone still in it. i'm not a vegetarian, but have eating habits close enough that people ask all the time. but i'm with kahla - sometimes I love having a bite of the BF's burger!
12The bf and I usually eat meat when we eat out, but only cook it on occasion at home. We tend to eat lighter stuff in the summer with the heat and the better veggies available.
13i eat meat for breakfast usually too.....
after reading your post on the medeteranean diet yesterday, I am interested in figuring out how to reduce that...
But I bike, surf and hit the gym three or four times a week, so I think I need 30 grams of protein a meal. I can't eat that many beans!!
14I eat meat, but find that it is more work to prepare than just making a salad.
15I LOVE MEAT!!
16meat =
17I'm a vegetarian and therefore I eat no meat...I eat substitutes though and they are just as satisfying!
