The onset of bikini season can be a scary one for those of us still looking to lose a few pounds or those of us terrified by the effects of the sun's damaging rays.

One company Wholesome Wear has recognized the need for modest swim wear that leaves a lot for the imagination. In looking on the bright side, I am thinking that these suits are suitable for those not wanting to get too much sun, or for those looking to hide their bod. If you're interested, check out the website at WholesomeWear.com.
In efforts to keep my opinion to myself on this one, I want to know if this full body suit is cool enough for you to wear in public?

Great idea, but the design is just not flattering.
1Very unattractive!
2OMG this is the fugliest sh!t I have ever seen in my whole life.
3great alternative for people whose religion prohibits them from shwoing too much skin, because they should be able to enjoy everythign the ebach has to offer as well!
4I'm on the same tip as esk4.
I think this look is for people who are "modest" as part of their lifestyle.
Still, couldn't there be something between this and a thong?
"Save the makeup, save the world..."
5Wow.
6I am all for modesty (I do not need to see 13 year olds or 80 year olds in thongs) and especially protection from the sun, but I'm not quite sure that this is the way to do it. Can you imagine actually trying to swim in one of those?? I think there are definitely better, and more flattering, ways to stay covered. How about a full-coverage one piece swimsuit, a non-sheer sarong tied around the waist which falls to the knees, and a lightweight button-up shirt for walks along the beach (and of course a fab sunhat)? Just as much coverage... but slightly more stylish.
7I'm on the fence with this. It doesn't matter what you wear in the water, you come out, and everything clings to your body anyway. Just because it's called a bathing suit doesn't make it inappropriate. I'd rather wear short-shorts and a tank then this smock. Something a little more flattering yet modest.
8Although the design is very unattractive, this could also be a great alternative for people who have already had bouts of skin cancer. My uncle, who had skin cancer on his back, swims in a wetsuit type thing because he is fearful of the cancer returning from too much exposure.
9is this a joke?
10What about the sort of wetsuits that surfers wear? Those seem more practical for those that are modest or have/had skin cancer.
11Yeah I agree, why don't they just wear what the surfers wear.
12I think these are for the amish or mormons
13wh..wh..WHAT?
14Um does it come with a Little House on the Prairie bonnet?
15Yeah, so for religious beliefs, sure. I have a lot of Muslim friends who could probably swing this but would they really want to? throw some prints or fab colors on that thing or something. Just because someone is being modest doesn't mean that they have to wear a hefty bag.
16The Aussie's have come up with some interesting solutions for Muslim women beachgoers. The suits they developed recently covered even more skin, but were more flattering.
My opinion: Unless its a religious thing (and even then) women should not have to live in a society that makes them ashamed to show their bodies.
17It's a good concept, but I don't know that the "air hostess" look is going to catch on at the beach...
18FUG
19I mean...you might as well go swimming in your clothes. I have lots of weight to lose and I would never wear this.
20What year is this??? A DRESS bathing suit?? This post belongs in Giggle Sugar.
21Like some people have said, it's probably great for people with religious/sun exposure/modest issues, but the question was cool or not. I do not consider that cool as in fashionable. I would much rather wear regular summer clothes.
22Hahahahahaha!!!!!! I would never wear these!!!
23There aren't words for how uncool these are. I respect the need for more covering on the beach -- I will not be breaking out the bikini -- but...just...NO.
24Talk about crazy!
25AHHHAHAHHAHAHA NO
26how about a light weight hoodie and some goucho (sp?) pant thingies for the beach ,... and some SPF but NOT that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely not cool!
27I agree with everyone else.. you might as well go swimming in your regular clothes!
No cool.
28I'm sure I will be in the minority here, but I actually yes, gasp, own one of these swimsuits. It is WONDERFUL! I used to get blistering sunburns no matter how much sunscreen -- this suit is great for covering all my skin.
Also, I really don't want/need to show my body off to anyone other than my husband. BTW, I'm twenty-three lest you you think I'm around eighty.
I value modesty and this swim suit completely meets my needs and allows me to swim with ease and comfort. I also do water aerobics 5x weekly in this suit. It is perfect!
29Ok, whether it's "cool" or "uncool" matters not to me. Believe it or not, I'm going against the trend here...I also own one of these suits! It's been perfect for water sports, rafting, swimming, beach, etc. A teen asked to borrow my suit once and has been begging her mom ever since for one of her own. Now her 14-17 yr old friends are asking where THEY can buy them. Maybe they will start a trend...who knows?
30I'm not ashamed of my body, but I do believe it's reserved for my husband's eyes alone -not every gawking male at teh pool or beach! A real plus about the suit is that it DOES provide great skin protection & it's extremely comfortable. (BTW, I agree with the 'too plain' opinion. It's rather boring in style. I added some pizazz to it by making it more fitted & adding colorful Hawaiian print apliques to the black bodice. It makes a wonderful difference & looks a lot more attracive.)
I personally don't see a problem with it. I'm actually thinking about getting one. People think it's ok for a woman to be half naked on a beach but have a problem with those who wish to cover up a bit. Instead of downgrading I would love to see the designer world come up with a simular idea with a little more style and color.
31First of all, as someone whose religion prohibits me to wear unmodest clothing, I either show up in one of those, or not go to the beach at all.
32Second of all, some people were saying that it's not flattering and not practical. I have friends who own those kinds of bathing suits, and they are just as lightweight and easy as anything. It looks like you're wearing a dress, going in the water and just being dragged down, but they're actually very high tech, easy drying, breathable, etc.
These things are definitely not for everyone, noone is forcing anyone to wear these, but for those who have no other alternative, these are great.
