Yesterday we all celebrated Labor Day, which makes me think of doing some labor intensive housework. Then there is the other kind of labor, childbirth and the activities that lead to pregnancy. I decided to do a little compare and contrast quiz between these drastically different methods of getting domestic. I want to know which burns more calories getting down and dirty or mopping / vacuuming your dirty floors.

1 of 1Question 1

3.1 Phillip Lim
Zucca
Giorgio Armani
Definitely not as much fun!
1haha that's for sure!
2well - i think that there are a lot of things that you can do to work out if you can't get to the gym - and this is just another great example.
3When I used to clean vacant duplexes, I burned off alot of calories cleaning those arm pit places. Believe me the way people left their ex-homes after moving was enough to make anybody hurl lol. So I did alot of stretching, climbing and scrubbing while cleaning those arm pit places.
4Also Audrina Partridge from the Hills, had told People magazine a few months ago that she vacuums and sweeps with her high heels to keep her legs and booty in shape. Crazy I know, but hey if it works, it works.
I am so upset right now. I really thought that vacuuming wasn't as good as sex in terms of exercise. I never sweat when I vacuum!
5Pretty sure that kind of depends on the type of sex you're having... I've definitely got muscle cramps from sex before... not so much from vacuuming. I'm just saying.
6Sigh....considering that these days vacuuming the floors lasts infinitely longer than sex does I'm afraid cleaning is probably a better workout...
712 minutes INCLUDING warm-up?!?!
8you're usually on the bed when you have sex. Your body doesn't have to work as hard when you're lying down as it does sitting and doesn't have to work as hard sitting as standing up. Therefore, you burn less calories.
...can always try having sex standing up!
9What Lissy said makes sense- weight-bearing activities burn more calories regardless of what the activity is, ditto to tlsgirl- 12mins? Geez that's pretty short . . . .
I will say though, and maybe it's just that I had a crappy vacuum (now I have a Roomba so I burn 0 calories vacuuming) in grad school and I had to bend over and like hold it in an awkward way but afterwards my abs totally ached, it was a good workout for keeping my tummy toned!
10If you're only going for 12minutes you're not doing it right...
