Truth be told, I've been out of school for a while now, but when Labor Day rolls around, I get that back-to-school mindset.

Similar to New Year's resolutions, the start of school, even if I don't attend classes, gets me thinking about setting some new health and fitness goals. I am recommitting to brown bag lunches, just like elementary school. September also makes me think about running cross country, and I want to get off the street and do some more trail running. What about you . . .

It's more of a back-to-work issue. For almost a year I worked from home, so I could go outside and exercise whenever I wanted. Now I've taken a "real" job again, and I'm back to not being free during daylight, so I need to suck it up and join a gym so I can stay on track (luckily, new job pays for membership). But I'm excited--I may start swimming, which I've never really done as a workout.
1As a high school English teacher, back to school for me means getting back into my routine. I finish teaching around 3:30 or 4 pm, and immediately high tail it to the gym. I also pack healthy lunches, which is so unlike the summer months when I'm constantly eating out and around temptation.
2Back to school means back to work for me (I'm not a teacher, I work as a Nanny for one). My plan for back to school is to continue exercising and loose some more weight. I also want to be more active outdoors. I plan to do a lot of outdoor activities with my daughter. I also plan to stick with eating more healthy and make better food choices! Good Luck to all!
3I second the "back to work" thing...for a while I was unemployed this summer, but for the past month or so, I've been working a new job and it has forced me to be more organized and time-conscious. Other than that, back-to-school really doesn't affect me a whole lot.
4My goal is to manage stress and make wiser choices at meal time!
5i don't have any specific goals for right now - partly cause i'm not in school and partly cause i don't use this time of year to be my goal-setting period. i try to be consistent and healthy all year round and this is just the status quo for me.
6I love the cooler weather!! I'm going back to work too, so hopefully I'll be able to figure out a great schedule to keep me on track and healthy!
7Yes, my goals/plans are:
- I clean the yard often in the fall so that becomes a workout for me (at least 1-1/2 hrs raking, sweeping, walking) and I plan on moving around more. I want to lose the flab that built up on my abs (
).
- Change my eating habits. I need to stop myself from eating food because of boredom & stress. Also I need to eat more natual foods and get more vitamins; right now my diet is crappy.
8Back to school is also around the same time as my birthday, so Septepmer always feels like the start of the new year for me! So, that's when I make my New Year's Resolutions. I'm only 2 weeks in, but so far I've been able to meet my goals for working out. While I haven't eaten perfectly every day, I know I've been eating more healthfully than I did all summer. And, thanks to leeluvfashion, I remembered to take my vitamins today (I read her post!). Thanks, ladies, for your input--keeps me motivated!
