Gear Review: Perfect Pushup

One of the random benefits of having house guests is getting to play with the toys they accidentally leave behind. My cousin's fiancé is working on his upper body so he can wow us all at their upcoming wedding. One of the tools in his traveling fitness arsenal is the Perfect Pushup ($40). His forgetfulness was my chance to try this "as seen on TV" gizmo, which meant I did many reps of push-ups.

By gripping the handles, the Perfect Pushup definitely protects your wrists. Since you are also slightly elevated off the ground, you work your center in a different way too and this makes the push-up seem more challenging. Since the discs rotate, you can twist your shoulder joints you press back up to the plank, but trying to keep the discs still emphasizes the core engagement of the push-up. I liked using them, but for $40 bucks (plus shipping and handling) I think I will stick all my push-up variations and wrist stretches. What about you?

If you want to see how everyone's favorite trainer Danny Bonaduce uses the Perfect Pushup, well then just read more.

My husband and I have been considering getting these for a long time but weren't sure just how useful they'd be, thanks for the review!

i saw the infomercial for these, and i had to laugh cause i'm not sure that they make sense - but i guess if you've seen them and tried them, you could prove my mindset to be wrong. Smiling

My mom got them at Target for $19 and she says they really work. It's so funny to be 25 and have a 'hot mom' Smiling

I busted out some push ups in front of my BFF when I was visiting her a few weeks ago. She immediately suggested buying these for me for my birthday. I laughed... but now am reconsidering. My husband has bad wrists and I smoke him when we do head to head push ups. I wonder if these could help him? Thanks for reviewing these.

My wrists hurt soo much doing push-ups that I would try these. But if you didn't have that problem, I could totally see why it would seem so useless!

I don't get it...why wouldn't you just use a pair of dumbbells and grab onto those while you do pushups? It looks like it'd be about the same thing and it'd be WAY cheaper.

They got me back to doing push ups after suffering a year from carpal tunnel syndrome. I sent a pair to my mom and dad (in their 70s) and cautioned them to start on a wall (can't do that with weights!) Bought mine at a Big Lots for $10 but I've seen them at Walgreens, Walmart. They also double for stability when stretching, yoga, pilates, instead of blocks. Love 'em.
