Jack in the Box Expands Breakfast Menu

Jack in the Box has announced its plan to jump on the fast-food breakfast bandwagon with its new Breakfast Bowl, an entire, portable meal. A mix of eggs, hash browns, cheese, peppers, and meat, the dish is a "Sunday brunchworthy meal" to be "enjoyed on a weekday schedule." Jack in the Box hopes to satisfy consumers' need for a hearty breakfast on the go.

Of the fast-food giants, currently McDonald's has the highest amount of breakfast sales. Only time will tell if Jack in the Box's Breakfast Bowls will become as popular as the Egg McMuffin. In other breakfast news, Denny's will compete with the Breakfast Bowls with its new to-go meal that involves a two-tier takeout container filled with bacon, eggs, and pancakes.

Do you eat breakfast at fast-food restaurants? Will you try Jack in the Box's Breakfast Bowl?

The bowl idea's not appetizing to me, but I am pretty fond of Jack In The Box's breakfast sandwiches (second only to Burger King's Croissanwich), and I like that they serve them all day.

It looks alright. I don't usually eat breakfast at fast food places, but I don't have a problem with it. There are no Jack In The Boxs where I live, though, so maybe their sales aren't as high because they lack the kind of presence McDonald's has.

Those bowls look delicious! Unfortunately, they aren't conducive to my diet...

I'm not fond of the "throw everything together in a bowl" fad that fast food joints are following.

I agree with Verily. Everything in a bowl isn't appealing to me, either (but then again, I don't like fast food breakfasts). Plus, I imagine one major downside to this meal is that it can't be eaten safely while driving... when I imagine a lot of commuters eat their fast food breakfasts.

Isnt this kind of like the Jimmy Dean's breakfast bowls you can get in the supermarket?

I have tried those and they are good but the egg texture is a little off...probably because of the microwaving. I wonder if these would be any better...

Not to sound negative, but it honestly looks like it could give someone a heart attack--especially if eaten in the morning. I guess that is a "no" for me. A very loud, "no!"

i think that it's a great segue into the breakfast arena - but it's just too bad that 1) i don't eat fast food and 2) i don't know where there's a jack in the box near me.

i think that it's a good alternative to what's out there though - you can only eat egg mcmuffins so much right?

Barf! I had a moment of weakness on Tuesday and ordered this. I love me a Denver Omelette and was late for work. I was going to get a Breakfast Jack (bad enough, right?) but saw this as new on the menu. It was hands down one of the most disgusting things I've eaten. It would be fine if it was just the eggs, some cheese, and the ham & peppers. BUT NO - they put all that on top of some hash-brown nuggets smothered in some gravy-like goo. SO - FREAKING - GROSS!
