After watching the US women's gymnastics team take a few painful tumbles last night, my mood picked up considerably while watching swimming. The US men's 4x100 meter freestyle relay had me on the edge of my seat and tense for just over three minutes — 3:08.24 to be exact — and their win had me dancing in my living room at midnight.

The US relay team beat their French rivals and broke a world's record while winning the gold. The winning team included Michael Phelps as well as Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak, and the win puts Phelps one medal closer to his goal of taking home eight. The win was infectious and hopefully will inspire the rest of the swim to victory as well.
The Olympic drama spans the spectrum from international rivalry to losing wedding rings mid play. To hear if beach volleyball star Kerri Walsh's found her wedding band in the sand read more.
Competing at the Olympics takes nerves of steel and Kerri proved she has the focus it takes to win, even after watching her wedding ring fly off midmatch. She noticed the band fly off as she blocked a shot at the net, but a true competitor she played on. Misty May-Treanor and Walsh won their first match with relative ease, and the wedding ring was later found by a volunteer with a metal detector.
These are two of my favorite 2008 Olympic moments so far. Tell me yours in the comments section below.

So far there was one disturbing video!!!!!!
1I agree Fit! Last night was intense! I was so scared that the French would win but I didn't want them to since they were talking smack but I was soooo proud of them for winning! I was dancing too. I was so excited for them.
2I've been waiting for someone to post this since last night! I was dancing in my living room with my jaw dropped as far as it could go. My boyfriend thought I was nuts. It took me an hour to fall asleep after that. I just wish we didn't have the tape delay on the West Coast; everyone else gets to see it live . . .
3That moment was so amazing, and I love the excitement that the resting team members displayed...I couldn't stop giggling at the howling and crazy poses coming from Phelps
4I wish that I could have stayed awake long enough last night to see Phelps and gang win the Gold!!!!
5I was totally yelling and screaming with joy when the USA took the Gold!! AMAZING race!!
6I screamed so loud I probably woke up the neighbors.
7I actually cried. I am a dork.
Side note/PET PEEVE: I HATE HATE HATE when the media calls swimming relays _ x _(as in 4 x 100). Swimmers do NOT refer to relays that way. We call them the 400 Free Relay, the 800 free relay, etc. It drives me crazy. It's not track!
8yeah.. um.. it was kewl!
9jkat,
You weren't alone! I was bawling tears of joy so hard that my eyelids were swollen this morning! Looked like I had been in a bad bar fight, without the black eyes!
10I think I'm the only one around that doesn't want Michael Phelps to win 8 gold medals. But let the cards go where they fall.
11I have it TiVo'ed and I don't think I'll be deleting the race for awhile... also thanks for the pic of those guys!!! Swimmers have THE BEST bodies! YUM!!!
12I'm sorry ... was too busy looking at the swimmers' bodies to listen to your question, Fit
13My mood would pick up too from watching those muscles. Could not care less about the race.
14Swimming relays were some of my best sport memories as a youth.
I haven't been paying attention to the Olympics, but swimmer bodies ARE a thing of perfection!
