One of the best things about losing weight, aside from all the amazing health benefits, is seeing progress. We all have our own ways of doing things, so I am curious about how you track your weight-loss progress.

I tend to watch the scales the most but know I shouldn't do that and I tryyy to train myself not to think like that but I've just lost a little weight and all I'm looking at is the scales again. Doh.

Mostly the scale, but also clothes. Unfortunately, if my clothes are fitting differently, that means I'm way too much in the wrong direction. At least with the scale, I can adjust my eating and exercising from day to day.

Definitely not the scale - there was a time when I was eating amazingly well (now I just eat well, ha ha) and exercising a lot and the scale hardly budged (i wanted to kick it), but I went down a few sizes...

NOTHING beats fitting into your skinny jeans.

Both clothes and scale- I've never had an issue with the scale telling me a number the didn't correspond directly to my eating habits and how lose my clothes are- I've heard ppl say that when they start lifting weights they've gone up a tiny bit on the scale, but for me when the scale goes up that's all bad weight-gain for my body- I don't weight myself everyday- usu once a week on the same scale at the gym.

    AND compliments.
If people notice and say "Wow, did you loose weight?"

based on the scale, then how I feel. (sometimes a good night's sleep makes me feel amazing.)

I weigh myself every day and list the results in dry-erase marker on my bathroom mirror.

The scale still freaks me out (so unpredictable!), so I go by my clothes.

For the first 4-6 weeks I started taking working out more seriously, I would get really frustrated with the scale because it wouldn't budge. The weight training combined with the crazy long runs was building muscle faster than I was losing fat. My clothes have been falling off my ass for weeks, but it's just now that I'm starting to see my weight drop.

the first three: scale, clothes and how i feel. they all go hand in hand, really. i know when i feel good and am "on course". the fit of my clothes and the scale usually just confirm how i feel and help me stay on track.

The pants. I work my way back through older and older pairs of pants. If I get back to the pants I bought when I was in undergrad, I consider that a pretty good accomplishment.

what i tend to do is.. first.. forget about the scale.. well.. maybe not completely.. i mean, weight is not the most accurate way for me to determine where i want to be.

next.. i track what my fat content is. that is the most important for me. then i try to figure out what range i should be in considering my age and height. now i am 5'8" and i've maintained my weight at 170lbs for a few months. now let me tell you.. at first i was just starting to do a light weight training routine back in december. at first, i had to watch what i ate, and well be consistent in my workouts. i haven't worked out since high school and i am 29 now. well now it is 7 months later, and i am still at 170. yes i have lost inches, and yes i appear thiner, but i haven't lost any weight. the difference with my eating habits now is i need to eat sufficiently to maintain my weight at 170. my metabolism is much higher now, such that if i skip a meal or do not eat enough in a day, i can lose 5lbs easy in one day. but you see, my muscle mas has gone way up. so even though the BMI index that only takes consideration of height, weight and age may say i need to lose weight, i know that i am healthy at my weight because i am leaner, and my weight is more consistent with the amount of muscle.

so please, try not to focus on a number on that scale until first you examine your body and try to get to know your body, because you may be fixated on a number that isn't yours Eye-wink

i go a combination of what it says on the scale, how i feel, and how my clothes fit. ever since losing weight it is vital to consider all three of these because i don't want to lose and i don't want to gain.

How I feel and how my clothes fit.

The scale will and have drove me crazy so I stay away for that. I weight myself once in a while. Measuring tape is alright but I dont like that either.

I would say measuring tape but I didn't use that before I starting losing inches so I wouldn't know the difference unless I lose another inch in the near future. I say a combo of weighing myself and how clothes fit. I'm not a person who really obsesses about the number and also I don't think depending on clothing only works that great when I'm trying to lose weight. I also wouldn't want to wait until clothing fits tight because it would be more than a couple of pounds I would have gained by the time I notice the difference.

I recently gained 30 pounds without realizing it because I had stopped weighing myself and was depressed (basically, had two terrible events happen in the past few months and handled it poorly). I have this problem with the scale - I'm either weighing twice a day, which leads to resentment, or ignoring it. So this time I am on a program where I only weigh once a week. And so I am judging by how my clothes fit. I think this is a healthier way to do it, for me.

I refuse to get on a scale. I weigh NOW what I did when I was a fat teenager and 3 sizes bigger!
I go by how my clothes fit. I am right now sitting comfortably in my skinny jeans. Laughing out loud

I thought we had this question before...I definitely track my progress by how I feel and how my clothes fit. I take a day off from working out once a week when I feel completely exhausted and know that my body's "asking" for a day off. I weigh myself sometimes, but not very often because I don't want to get obsessed.
