Squat Options

If you're pressed for time and feel like strength training has been pushed aside, I am here to tell you that you have squat options. While adding a smattering of squats throughout your day might not be ideal, it is better than nothing.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Laundry Squats: Combining two unpleasant tasks makes them both somehow sweeter. It is a multitasking move the whole family can love.
  • Potty Squats: If you're desk bound and feeling disembodied, take a trip to the ladies and do some squats.
  • Chair Squats: Chairs might be for sitting, but if you hover just above your seat your other seat will get a nice workout. This one is easier to get away with if you work at home.
  • I have a couple more suggestions so read more.

  • Water Cooler Squats: A nice way to build endurance in your quads while you fill your water bottle at the water cooler. The larger your bottle the longer you work your quads.
  • Dishwasher Squats: Just like folding laundry, squat instead of bending at the waist to unload or load your dishwasher. It is actually a much more back friendly way to bend and works the backside.

    I definitely do squats in the ladies' room! And I do them while brushing my teeth and while waiting for water to boil. And whenever else the mood strikes!

    There is always the modified coitus squat.(6) Requires one willing husband lying supine..................

    I do squats while I wait for the kettle... in the ladies room... but I work as a carer and so I'm on my feet all day anyway!

    I mostly do them in the gym. I'll do them against the wall with a fitness ball as I wait for my hair straighteners to warm up sometimes too. Smiling

    I do all of these too! I think that standing at the stove making dinner is a perfect time to get some squats, lunges, leg lifts, etc in. My 3 year always says I look silly! Sticking out tongue

    I just discovered that I can do the best ski jumps in Wii Fit if I actually do a full-out squat on the takeoff. So yeah, I've been doing that a lot.
