I love eating out as much as the next girl. The problem is that I always head into a restaurant, deli or fast food joint with the healthiest intentions and often get derailed by the unhealthy options calling my name when I am deciding what I want. One way I avoid the temptation is by going in knowing what I want ahead of time. Many restaurants offer nutritional information online of their menu items, and for those that don't calorieking.com is a good resource. This way you can do the legwork before you even step into the restaurant. And when you do, it's a lot easier to keep your eye on the ball (aka, your health).

though apparently you can't really know if those calorie counts are accurate :-/

I am going to wagamamas tonight and I am doing my research!!
2I almost always try to look up the menu online for any place that I'm going to be eating at. Then I try to pick the healthiest-sounding option in advance. Also, at restaurants, don't be afraid to ask for modifications to your food...ask them to put the dressing on the side or omit the cheese or whatever. Most restaurants will do this for you and if they don't, don't eat there again!
3I have looked all over for California Pizza Kitchen's nutritional data and found some at fatsecret dot com. I was horrified to see how much fat and how many calories that salad had. You would do just as well having a couple of slices of pizza!
4The link imLissy posted was horrifying. It's enough to make me cook at home forever. (Not like we can afford to go out anymore anyway.)
