The Top Running Shoes Revealed

Product rating powerhouse Consumer Reports has tested 205 pairs of men's and women's running shoes in an effort to find the best. Overall they found that the Nike Air Zoom Vomero+2 (pictured here) was the best running shoe for men ($120) and women ($120). Not only does it have excellent cushioning, but it also was praised for its quality fit. Unfortunately, like most running sneaks, the price tag is a little steep.

If that's a little too pricey for you right now, the Champion Wonder C9 ($28) was the most cost effective woman's running sneaker that made number 23 on the list — the shoe scored high points for being lightweight and flexible. What's more? You can buy it at Target!

To see the full list, head on over to ConsumerReports.com (subscription required).

Personally I can't wear anything besides Spiras. A lot of my customers love Brooks and Asics, too.

Hmmm I'll trust the Runner's World shoe issues better than Consumer Reports- I believe them more when it comes to cars and such . . . but running? Also what does "quality fit" mean? Every runner will have a different idea about "fit" bc every person has a different foot (well two different feet!).

I'd have to agree with cmd. Consumer reports is great for appliances and lawnmowers, but Runner's World is wholly devoted to the subject.

"Best"? How can they possibly choose any "best" running shoe when every person's feet and gait are different? The only "best" recommendation any runner should EVER trust are from a running shop that watches exactly how you run. Any kind of sweeping generalisations like this are just going to end up injuring people.

I literally just bought these shoes two weeks ago, and I am in LOVE with them. I do not like spending money, but when you run regularly, you need something that fits well and is geared to your natural gait! And for me, this shoe does exactly that!

ehhh...I agree with squirrellypoo. Trust Runners World or even better, your local running shop to get your shoe, not Consumer Reports. I love my Brooks...which were cheaper than this Nike recommendation!

runnergeek- I run in the GT 2130 too! I just got them about a month ago- used to be a Mizuno runner but the GT's are better than any Mizuno I've ever tried.

runnergeek- actually this nike shoe (the men's version at least, i dont know anything about the women's) is definitely a great running shoe, surprising enough! my fiance used them for about a year and a half, until they narrowed the sole a little too much for his liking. it was also recomended by our local running shop...

i still wouldnt trust consumer reports for the end all say all of running shoes.

Yeah, I think I'll go with Runner's World over Consumer Reports any day when it comes to running shoes! I love my Asics because they seem to fit my feet really well and give me enough support (I'm an overpronator). I actually don't usually care for Nikes because I've found them to be cheaply made and overpriced.

Hey guys! Wow so beautiful and great to finally see some Nike Air Zoom Vomero +2 recognition on fitsugar! I cannot tell you how wonderful they are. So this one day when me and my boyfriend has just had this huge blow out fight and he was coming at me with every kitchen appliance (knives, blender, etc.) the Nike Air Zoom Vomero really enabled me to sprint the heck out of my house. He really is such a jerk you guys. If anyone is single, then maybe we could go on a date. Running would be great. I love going to birthdays with vanilla cake and strawberry icing, I love cleaning cat litter boxes because of the feeling of sorting out my life that I get from scooping and throwing away, and I love putting creative spins on all of the FitSugar blogs (for example, I changed the 100 push ups in 6 weeks to 100 push ups in 6 minutes) Needless to say, my head blood vessels ruptured. But it's okay because with Nike Air Vomero shoes, nothing's stopping me. Love you all. Call me. Please. Comment my page!! I love comments! xoxo guys! Bye! okay for real now, Bye! haha BYe! Bye! oh gosh BYE! Comment! xoxoxoxoxoxoox Bye! haha ! bye! Eye-wink. LOL! LYLAS!
