Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business what size clothes I wear, but if someone asked me, I wouldn't lie. I am what I am and I've come to terms with my body. I have a good friend though who's naturally petite (size 2), and one time I heard her tell someone she was a size 6. She said she doesn't want to hear negative comments like, "Geez, you need to eat something."
So what about you . . .

I put never because if I don't want to tell someone I won't lie I just won't tell them. I'm a zero and it's annoying to here people say "zero isn't even a size"
1My size varies so much depending on the brand of clothing i get. Because of my little waist and wide hips I end up wearing anything from a 6 to a 12. I don't think clothing size really translates to person size all that well.
2I have no idea what size I am anymore. I buy a fancy dress I'm a 6, I shop at The Gap and I'm a 0
3The clothing industry seems to change on their "size". The skirt that I purchased 3 years ago was "size 4" and it is similar in waist/length/style as a "size 0" I just got a month ago from the same brand!
4Seriously... I am a different size in every store
5I agree with the sentiments above, I am a 2 at anne taylor and a 2/4 at the gap and then a 7 at macy's jr. dept... perhaps as a 25 year old I should stop shopping juniors. hahahaha
6I don't tell anyone my size. And no one would need to know that unless they're buying me clothing. It's kind of lame people even have to feel like they have to lie about their size to avoid stupid comments.
7Like most, my size varies from 2 to 4 to 6, depending on the brand, fabric, or garment. So if the subject comes up I'll either say just that, or if I'm feeling insecure I'll say I'm a 2/4. Not a lie, but not *always* true.
8I don't see the point of lying, I mean you know your size it's not going to make you feel better to "pretend" your are something else . . . it's more weird to ask someone their size though- it' almost rude! I don't get those the people who are "afraid" to say their size when they are tiny like 0 or 2- everyone that size knows they are super proud/happy to be that size and obviously as we've seen here, likes to brag about it
9cmd0610... I'm a size 2, and although I AM proud of my body, it sometimes prompts comments like Fit mentioned above, from "You're so skinny!" to "Gosh, don't you eat?" It can be a compliment to hear how slim you are, and it might be said half-jokingly, but there comes a point where it's indiscernible whether you should take such comments in a positive manner or as an insult. You can't possibly know what it feels like, unless you yourself have been in that situation.
10i'm a size 0 or 00, but i don't tell people because it's none of their business. if they're buying me clothes, i just tell them to buy me the smallest size.
11I do, however, always get weird looks when I tell people my size. I had a sales person argue with me and try to get me to buy an XS dress because I'm a really small person ... though I wear things in medium on a regular basis. On the other side I get people looking at me and telling me I need to workout because I wear "cloths that are sized too big". So I own the occasional size 8 ... doesn't mean I'm suddenly fat. It just means that size fit my widest parts the best.
Seriously ... I hate when people try to argue that I'm fat or wearing the wrong size when I've been the same healthy weight my doctor has always told me to maintain.
12My roommate is actually smaller than a 00 ... she's always getting her cloths tailored. I feel bad for her sometimes because she tries so hard to gain weight but never seems to gain enough to produce any change in her physique. She really wishes she could just go out shopping and never have to worry about the extra money she needs to throw in to get things tailored.
13Kate Marie- I am also a size 2 and I too am proud of my body and I have had people tell me even in that awkward half-jokingly way that I need to eat more but I'm not sensitive about it because I am happy and glad to be this size- I'm sorry people have been rude to you about it I didn't mean for my comment to seem "rude" I just thought being small and having to "lie" about it might feel less bad than being larger and "lying" that you are smaller so that people won't judge you thinking you are too large
14it depends on what kind of clothes i wear and from what company. for example, at j. crew, i buy shorts that are a size 4, however, when i go to hollister, the shorts i have to buy are a size 7. for shirts, it depends on what material it is made of. if it is a tight cotton shirt, i would get a large, just because my boobs are so big. if it is a loose fitting tshirt, i would get a medium. however, for dresses, i usually stay at a size 4.
15... i agree with you bengal. the widest parts on me is my hips. c'mon i'm a BLACK GIRL.. this girl has got some HIPSSS.. and i'm proud of them
16I used to when I was a size 26 but after working hard for the past 2 years I am proud to be a size 10. I get the question a lot from people who knew me then and see me now. I guess it is curiosity. I have a friend who wears a 0/2 naturally and she gets some pretty awful comments from people who find out. It seems like you can never be good enough for anyone, no matter your size. When I lost weight people said I look good and when she gained weight while pregnant people said she looked better. It drives me crazy.
17I am a size 4 and proud of it. It has taken alot of work. Three years ago, I was a 14. What's interesting is that I weigh about 148 pounds and am 5'9". People actually think I weigh less. Muscle takes up less space so my body shape helps. I am passionate about health and fitness and it shows.
Hey, I love it and plan to keep it that way.
18I am a size 0 or 00 depending on where I shop... and I am extremely proud of my body. I said sometimes, though, because not only are there the "too skinny" comments, but there are also the people that you can tell feel uncomfortable because you are that small... people that are trying to lose weight and feel like they are getting somewhere until you say how small you are. So, occasionally I bump up my 0 to a 2 in conversation
19I don't know how anyone can say they are one "size" these days--unless you only shop at one store and often enough to keep up with when their vanity sizing strikes yet again. I wore a 5 in high school (that was the smallest size generally available at the time), and now I'm wearing size 0 jeans right now, despite now weighing 10-15 pounds more at the same height. And trust me, it's not like I'm tricked into thinking I'm skinnier than I was at 14! Ph-lease!
20Depends who I'm talking to. I always lie to my parents about my size. We may not have a zero here in Germany, but I mostly wear the smallest size (which is a 32) and when my mom asks what size I am, of course, then I'm a 36, or even 38 becuase it's sounds way healthier to her.
Though, actually it's stupid. She sees I'm skinny and would never fit into a 38 - at least not alone. *lol*
21I'm a size 4 or size 6P in dresses. I'm fine with my size, and I wouldn't lie if someone asked, but I think it's rude to ask someone that. Why don't ya just ask a middle-aged woman how old she is and how much she weighs?!
22I vary so much that I truly have no clue what size I am.
23I don't lie about my size or weight. I'm the one that has to live with it..so, if I lie about my size or weight to someone, I'm only really lying to myself. I'm proud of the size I am and of how much I weigh. And, I weigh more than I look like I weigh..so, that definitely benefits me. lol
But, I don't really have a problem with telling someone that I wear a size 6-9/10 depending on what it is I'm trying on and where I'm shopping.
24I'm a size two or smaller on average.. I get ALOT of "omg you're so skinny!" and "go eat a burger" comments from friends -- but that's only because most of them hate their bodies and are trying to lose weight.
I don't lie about my size. I think their exclamations & rude comments are just expressions of envy really.
25I don't ever lie, but sometimes it's hard to be truthful! Like everyone's been saying, it's a different number at every store. I think it depends on the customer appeal of the store. At Banana Republic or Lacoste - stores that appeal to mostly adult women, I find that the smallest sizes fit really well since I'm athletic but I have some boobs and some hips. But at the stores I loved in high school like American Eagle and Abercrombie, I usually have trouble finding something that will fit both my waist and my hips.
Though if I were actually asked my clothing size, I definitely wouldn't go this much into it. I would actually probably say small instead of a number since that can be charged and I feel like that question is asked by women my age in a competitive spirit, whatever that is supposed to be.
26I'm smaller than a size 0 and sometimes I do get comments. But it doesn't bother me. I've been petite since I was a child.
27I don't really have a "size", it totally depends on where I'm shopping and what for. I don't know why it's worth even talking about though.
28Oh and I have felt the stigma of being overweight and underweight. Now I'm healthy and happy so size feels irrelevant to me because there is no standard when it comes to clothing so you never really have a true "size." I have curves so I have to try things on wherever I go and even in the same store I might need different sizes depending on the type of clothing.
29I don't lie. I'm not "proud" of being small, though, because I didn't do anything to achieve it.
I wear a 0 or 2 in J Crew and Ann Taylor, depending on the garment. I wear a 0 in J Crew dresses and a 2 in their pants. However, I have a J Crew dress that is 10 years old and a size 4, and fits perfectly. I am totally irritated about brands trying to make you feel skinny by changing the numbers like that!
30I know a lot of people IRL who appear to be lying to themselves about their size ...
Anyway, not that anyone ever asks, but I don't lie. It's not like anyone would believe me if I said I was an 8 or a 22. Yes, these pants are a size 14, this top is an XXL, this jacket is a 1X. And don't I look great?
31not unless someone is buying me clothes, which is usually my mom or mom-in-law, they don't need to know my size. even my husband never sure of my size. if i have to go shopping and if he wants to help, he always has to ask. but i yo-yo alot in my sizes. as of right now i'm going down, but give it a few years and i'll go back up.
32Wow I didn't know it varied so much! I am seriously the same size in every store I shop at (except for dresses but I think they make dresses complicated on purpose). I admit I have been guilty of making the "Zero isn't a size" remarks in the past (sorry, I don't anymore, I promise!), but that was when I was younger and hadn't become secure with myself. I mean, I agree with the comment above that said clothes size and people size are not comparable at all... I have petite friends who are size 0s and that's just the way they are, whereas I consider myself fairly toned/fit and I love my body and I wear a size 6, and I probably wouldn't get smaller even if I lost more weight. People are all different, and it's not the size that matters anyways, it's all about the fit.
33PS, I totally love what you said, Valancy Jane. Perfect.
34I don't lie about it but I just try not to talk about it. Sizes are so unrepresentative of what size people actually are.
35cmd0610, thanks for commenting back. I don't lie about my size, but I can definitely see how it seems silly for a small woman to say she wears a bigger size, as opposed to a larger woman pretending she's smaller.
36I don't lie about my size, but I am a different size in every piece of clothing I own. 2,4, never over a 6 though. Honestly - I cut the size tags out of my clothes so as not to remind myself or anyone else who might see them - like my husband's sister (big mouth, she thinks if she knows then it's everyone's business)
37oh i totally lie all the time. i am a lot bigger then i look and i hate tight clothes...i'm just sick of the feedback and the comments that i get back! when i tell people that i wear a large, i always get "NO! you should wear a small or a medium!" no, i dont want to wear a small or a medium! that is why i buy the large! ha, it looks like whether you are big or small, the comments come flying at you. ive always wondered why people care so much.
38I'm good with my size. Actually, when I got a pair of jeans in December I texted my friends "12! OMFG 12!" They had no idea what I was talking about. I'm 5'2" and WAS a size 24 (that made me about 285lbs), so this was like a miracle to me. I'm smaller than a 12 now, but not quite a 10. So all my pants are too big and everyone tells me I need clothes that fit. Well, when I find some I will. Sheesh.
I do have this one pair of pre-pregnancy jeans (10 years ago!) that I always loved. They fit great on me then when I was a different 'size' as I am now, and they fit just slightly loose now. So yeah, size seems to vary by time, space, and dimension!
39Hehe, people always look shocked when I tell them my size. I've got a twenty five waist, but 36 hips so I wear a couple sizes larger than I look (from the front anyways)
40I actually look smaller than my real size. Nobody can believe it when I tell them I am the size I am. The other day I was shopping with my daughter and the sales girl, a very good jeans expert tried guessing my jean size. She guessed 2 sizes smaller than I am. I have close friends who are surprised when they see me try on the size I am saying they had no idea. I have muscular thighs, I am short, and jeans that fit my thighs are usually too big in the waist and too long for me. It sucks! Finding clothes is rough unless I want to shell out money for alterations too. But, I am a proud 13/14, sometimes 12, would like to be a 10. I still have about 20 pounds to go though for that. Most people think I wear a size 10 already. I was a 7/9 all through high school with a nice flat stomach, but still...those thighs! Years of dance, skating, and gymnastics I suppose!
41I'm 5'10" and a size 10 and PROUD OF IT.
I have a curvy beautiful body. And frankly I get annoyed when I go to Ann Taylor or Gap and I'm a size 6. No I'm not. Stop trying to make me want your clothes because they are the wrong size.
42i don't ever talk about that stuff for myself. if people around me are talking about it - i either clam up or walk away cause i get uncomfortable talking about weight and things like that. it's more to do with my own personal issues than anything else though.
43Who really has a set size? honestly! I fit into size 4 dresses but sometimes I wear a 7/9 in juniors. Most of my pants and dresses are 6's though. I'm proud I suppose but I don't really care about my clothing sizes though. If I'm happy about what I see in the mirror, I'm golden. With all the weight training/martial arts I do, my thighs are huge compared to most women. I'm just glad to be in fantastic shape... screw the sizes.
44Nope, there is no need to lie. The truth is good enough. Depending on the clothing line, I range from a 2 to a 6. I simply say I'm an average size 4.
45I don't lie because I'm damn proud of my body size. I used to wear a size 18 and I used to just not tell people what size I was because I didn't want them to know I was "plus sized". Now, I generally wear a size 0-2, depending on where I shop. Most people actually think I wear kids' clothes because I look smaller than I am. I assure them that I probably weigh more than they think too...one coworker of mine guessed that I weigh 90 lbs, which was a good 15 lbs less than what I do weigh. My mom and mother in law like to buy clothes for me, but they don't want to risk getting stuff that won't fit, so they just get me gift cards to stores I shop at.
46I do not lie about my size (2/XS). I think it is silly when women lie about their size since it is usually obvious they are lying. I don't talk about my size however if someone asks I'll tell them; otherwise I just keep it quite.
47I don't lie either -esp as my size varies in every store. I also look a lot smaller than I am. I usually always get medium or size 5/6 but that can vary- I could be a 3/4 or a 7/8 or an extra small. It sucks when ordering online. I also prefer things to be loose.
48and there is an example....even when you DO say you're size when you are a 0 or 2..people say you are "bragging" about it...you can't win...if I said I'm a 6 or 8 would someone say..oh shes just bragging? it just seems so silly. I am what I am and why should I feel ashamed when I work hard to stay fit. size zero and proud
49i don't lie
