Eating quickly is a habit. Mealtimes have become a speedy endeavor, rather than a time to sit down and enjoy eating food. A good meal is truly one of the simple pleasures of life and we get to do it at least three times a day. If you need to slow down, I have an idea for you.

Try eating an entire meal with your less-dominant hand. If you're right handed, eat with your left. Yes, it will feel weird, but that's a good thing. The struggle to coordinate reaching a fork or spoon to your mouth will force you to eat more slowly. You will savor the effort and the taste. Surely, using your nondominant hand will help you take 20 minutes to eat [1] a meal. Try it and tell me how it goes.
