Have You Lost Your Reusable Water Bottle?

I am on my fifth reusable water bottle. From leaving them at the gym and on the bus, I've managed to work my way through water bottles. I can't help but think I'm being counter productive here and they're not cheap either, Sigg and Klean Kanteen both start at around $20 a bottle. I'm curious, as we're all trying to keep hydrated while doing our part to stop using plastic water bottles and start using reusable water bottles, have you ever lost your reusable water bottle?

I guard my SIGG like a HAWK! I'm obsessed with it and uber-paranoid that someone wants to steal it. I take it everywhere I go!

I can not tell a lie and say I have never lost my reusable water bottle but, my company gives them out as promos so...I can always grab a new one from storage. I am spoiled b/c I'll never have to buy one and can only hope my missing ones are in good hands, and not a landfill.

I've not lost my water bottle, but I was somewhat counter productive when I bought the one I have now. My polycarbonate bottle was fine, but I replaced it with a Sigg because I was afraid of the leaching plastic.

I can't believe people still buy plastic bottles of water every day. It is so wasteful!

I almost lost my first water bottle. However, when I got to the gym the next day, it was still sitting there. LOL! But to be on the safe side, I cleaned it in hot water. I have a new SIGG bottle and haven't lost it yet. ::knock on wood::

I now only buy bottles of water when I am on the road...I bought a cup to use at work and I drink water from a glass at home...those plastic bottles can give water a bad taste anyway. Or i reuse the water bottles I buy for a while.

I don't actually have a reusable bottle, but I refuse to buy bottled water too. I still use this big old school thermos that I have had for like 10 years. It works great and holds lots of water! At the gym, I use the water fountain... and outside on long runs or hikes I use a camelbak.

Well I'm on my 4th or so... but I started using re-usable bottles about 8 years ago, so I think that is pretty decent. I switched from Nalgene to Sigg about 3 months ago, and I love it.

I'm on my second - I left my last Sigg in the climbing gym and it disappeared. From an ecological standpoint, I hope someone stole it and is using it. I find it hard to believe someone would throw something like that out!

Hey Kat...if I found your bottle I would have turned it into loast and found...if I had the option of using it for myself or throwing it away, I would throw it away...just because I don't know who had it or what it was used for...

i'm one of the bad and buy bottled water, but i do recycle all my bottles. OR is great for providing containers for recycling. i go thru 1-2 cases of water a week. our water tasted horrible for some reason.

Jennisuga, that's what I do too ... some folks will tell you that bacteria can grow on a plastic bottle if it's used too many times, but I'm willing to take that chance for now. I only buy bottled water when I'm traveling (darned airport sterile zone!), I reuse them for months, and I make sure to recycle the bottles when I get rid of them. When I'm feeling flush I'll buy a SIGG or something similar but then I will have to guard it with my life ... they are too expensive to lose!

Its so funny you posted this, because I recently blogged about my sigg bottle on my "team" page. I am obsessed with it. Yes a little bit pricy but so convenient... and SO good for the environment. Its my first and I guard it with my life. Smiling

I must be missing something. I'm on my second water bottle (let's just say the husband made the first one unusable). I can't believe you paid $20 for a water bottle. What's so special about it? It might be "simply eco-logical" but its not eco-nomical. I bought my first one for $1 at Target. I bought my current Rubbermaid bottle for 4.99 at Rite-Aid. Deer Park delivers water to my house. I'd rather spend extra money on cute shoes...

If I had a $20 water bottle and lost it, I'd probably be looking for it until I found it. What's the point of having a great water bottle if you keep having to replace it?

i've never lost one, but i have had two of the cheap-o target ones break on me (the lid snaps off and i get annoyed with not being able to carry it by the little strappy thing) so i have thrown one or two away, which probably counteracts any good i did by using it in the first place lol. i will say i used to go through a case of bottled water a week and now i only grab one if i'm on my way out to do a lot of shopping. we've had the same open case in our garage for a month now, which absolutely amazes me for some reason.

For work, I have my glass Voss bottle that is, almost, one liter. Then for when I need a plastic, like my weekly trips to Disneyland, I have my reusable one from Starbucks...people are like "that is sooo cute!" lol.

My first Sigg was stolen at the gym...who does that?! And I accidentally forgot my my 2nd Sigg in the freezer yesterday and it cracked. I went on the Mysigg site yesterday and there was a message about how they were forced to close down the MySigg shop because of the high demand. Buggers! I ended up finding one on ebay, but the prices are getting higher and higer each time I buy one. I better hold on to this next one tightly!

It's a freakin plastic bottle. How do they get away with charging so much? Unless it not only purifies the water I am drinking and keeps it cold, but can lift itself to my lips so that I must expend no effort, I don't want one, thanks.
