Not only did we have a three day weekend, but the world of women's sports was alive with excitement.

Whether you were watching Wimbledon or not, a sister on sister final match must intrigue you. The Williams sisters dueled it out in an exciting final match (7/5, 6/4). In this match up Venus came out on top, continuing the friendly sibling rivalry – the last time Venus beat younger sister Serena was in the US Open in 2001. The sisters also won the women's doubles title. Congrats ladies and thanks for bringing tennis excitement back to the states!
To see how swimmer 41-year-old Dara Torres did at US Olympic swimming trials, read more.
Off the court and into the pool, mommy Olympic swimmer Dara Torres made an amazing comeback indeed! Not only did she win the 100 meter freestyle as well as the 50 meter freestyle events, she broke a US record too. With already nine medals to her name, Torres is still hungry for more and pushed herself to make the US Swim team after taking seven years off from competitive swimming. Now we just have to wait to see how she does in the Olympics.
We will definitely have our eyes on Dara as well as Venus and Serena when the Beijing games begin. Are you getting excited for the Olympics? I certainly am!

What a great weekend! I've been watching the olympic trials this weekend and am AMAZED at these women. Running a 3K (2 miles!) in 9 minutes 27 seconds is so foreign to me, but I love that these ladies do it and do it with grace!
1Dara swam such an amazing 50 last night! As a former competitive swimmer of similar age, I was whooping and hollering when she hit the pad. She has inspired me to get my saggy butt back into the pool for exercise.
2Dara was amazing in her races. I'm glad I tuned in to see them.
3This past weekend was spectacular for women's sports. Awesome tennis at Wimbledom, both the women's singles & doubles finals (men's finals too). Dara was amazing! Can't wait to watch her at the Olympics!
4My mom and i were glued to wimbledon all week long-we're even going to take tennis lessons together after watching the Williams sisters. They are my fitness gold standard-i cut a little photo of them out and taped it to the back of my ipod for when i run. i've become a superfan.
5Kia,
I feel that Dara's best is yet to come!
6Dara's record is even more amazing then what you wrote about. This was the ninth time she broke that 50m free record...the first time was when she was FIFTEEN! what an inspiration.
7GO DARA!
