I don't know about you, but I saw more cyclists on the road this weekend than normal. I, too, was inspired, so I had to join them. Inspired by what? The answer would be none other than the Tour de France. Although Lance has retired from the sport of cycling and moved on to dating starlets, I still follow the sport. I think it is amazing that these guys ride over one hundred miles almost every day.
What I want to know is . . .

2eh. i follow it because my husband follows it, so its on our tv quite a bit. he's an competitive amateur cyclist and has followed it for years...but it has lost a lot of appeal to him after all the doping scandals in recent years. he's definitely eased up on his enthusiasm for it...same goes for baseball, actually.
i'm generally not a "sports on tv" kind of person. i enjoy watching most things live/in person, though. perhaps i should travel to france
3What is most amazing to me is the speed at which these guys bike. According to wikipedia, in 2005, the AVERAGE speed of the winner (lance) was just a touch shy of 26mph. If I can average 18 mph on a hilly ride for a couple of hours, that is hard, and good for me. 26mph over 21 days, over the alps. Amazing.
I like to watch it, but just a little here and there.
4It's huge in Denmark, and I can't really get away from it. The guys at my office has signed up for a game where they manage teams online, and they follow it avidly.
Personally, I rather pay attention to see if they're going any of the places I've been in France. I was there just before the tour one year, in the steep mountains in the south, where I felt my car would tip backwards - and later learnt that they had biked up it... hmmm....

8Ha, I'm actually watching the end for the first time in like, forever because Lance ISN'T in it. It was always like, why bother watching, we all know Lance is going to win. Now it'll be someone new and I can't wait to see who it is.
