Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you guys make me feel human again, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .
Last weekend was, as we all know, a holiday weekend. Somehow I ended up at three BBQs and somehow I totally forgot my own tips for keeping grilling healthy. Not only did I eat far more s'mores than I'd care to say out loud, I also indulged on one too many adult cocktails, hamburgers, and spoonfuls of potato salad. I told myself I was going to go on a hike one day, a run the next day, with the third day of the three day weekend dedicated to biking. All I did was bike. I never even laced up my sneaks once. Today I feel a bit sluggish (and guilty) but I've got my gym bag packed and it's back to healthy living.
So there, I've confessed — hey, it happens right? Now it's your turn. Do you have anything you want to confess and get off your chest after this holiday weekend of celebrating? It helps knowing that we all make mistakes and that life, and health, does indeed go on.

Movie popcorn, red vines, key lime pie. Those were my big ones. No wonder I've hit a weight loss platuea
1Friday I had a big burger on a bun and a bunch of those new premium M&Ms and 3 cupcakes, and Saturday I went to Macaroni Grill and Graeters for a big waffle cone, but I did run 38 miles this weekend, so I guess I made up for it a bit.
2My eating was ok, a few too many alcoholic beverages but nothing way out there, I just didn't get any EXERCISE in at all... but I am playing a 90 minute soccer game tonight so that should hopefully get me back in the swing of things!
3had the typical bbq fare on the 4th (ribs, chicken, potato salad, strawberry shortcake, beer!) and also as leftovers on saturday... did a 52 mile bike ride friday morning, and ran 6 miles yesterday, so that kind of balanced it out.
don't deny yourself the foods you love! as long as its in moderation, its ok
the
majority of you exercise regularly anyway! so dont feel bad... i sure dont!
4Fell off the wagon big time this weekend. Now I have a taste for sugar and I have to go through withdrawal all over again. This is going to be a long day!
5i drank almost an entire pitcher of sangria on the fourth & ate rolled tacos, rice & beans yesterday for lunch. GIANT rolled tacos. rolled tacos so big that i was still full at dinner time. (but they were worth it.)
6I don't think mine is that big of a deal since I wasn't over eating over this weekend in general and this was from my sister's bridal shower, not the 4th of July. I didn't eat a lot during Saturday for the most part, but I had a little bit too much flan before I got to have cake from the party and then my slice was too big and I ended up eating it anyway. But it is Dominican cake and this specific one was really good. I also had a little more cake yesterday, but it wasn't that much anyway since it was leftovers and I wasn't the only eating the leftovers. I didn't overeat from the actual dinner though since it wasn't really food I like much.
7I took a job working one shift per week at this Spanish restaurant. The problem is that they want me to try all the tapas and wine they serve. Last night, I ate six dishes of tapas. I had a good workout in the morning, but still. Everything was fried and coated in some sort of sauce.
8I've been doing the whole sugar high thing, because I'm so active in my job and outside I'm not really worried about weight gain. It's just that I haven't been fueling my body with good stuff. Yesterday my boyfriend dragged me to a chinese buffet for lunch and I wasn't hungry till about 730 but I skipped eating anything for dinner and went to bed hungry. BUT I had a healthy breakfast today and it's a good way to start a good day of healthy choices.
9Don't worry Fit, I once had 6 s'mores in one sitting, plus a couple extra marshmallows! I had a double scoop of Graeter's Cookie Dough Chip on Saturday, but aside from that, it was a fairly healthy holiday weekend.
10I had a lot of wine and a funnel cake on the 4th...and a doughnut, french fries and some cheesecake yesterday. Opps, but I did work out everyday...
11I did pretty good on the food front this weekend... I actually didn't eat any of the BBQ'd meat we cooked, mostly cause I didn't have room on my plate! But, that plate was full of yummy salads, veggies, and sweet potatoes. I did not, however, work out at all, not including my pushups Friday for the One Hundred Pushups program.
12I went for a 3 day camping trip fr Friday till Sunday. Knowing that I will most likely overeat - I started with a 18 mile run on Friday before heading to the camp site. I also managed to run 5 miles on Saturday.
But, I did eat a lot as well - BBQ chicken/beef, hamburger,
chips, beers, smores.
13This weekend was an awful eating weekend for me: Hot dog, french fries, onion rings, cheese sauce, lots of beer, full fat potato chips, lime flavored tortilla chips, ice cream cake, chocolate malt balls, donut (from dunkin donuts), fried shrimp, brownies, chinese food.
14I think that's the full list. My body is going thru major shock due to having no veggies.
I'm actually really glad to get back to work and eat better again. I hope the scale was wrong and I'm back to my "normal" weight tomorrow a.m.
Whew! confession feels good.
i'm jealous! i wish i had s'mores!
15i just ate a donut
16No serious exercise for the entire three days. Can't wait to get back to the gym today (okay, I can wait, but I really do need to get back into the routine.)
17hahahhahahahahahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ok.. umm..
yeah.. i pigged out on the weekend.. i even gained 10 lbs. on friday!
but it was mainly because of all the salt, and well i am back to my normal weight.
plus healthy eating and exercise is for the long run and seemingly a lifestyle these days.
as long as one is honest with oneself, pigging out has no real effect. lets say.. 365days/year... if you eat healthy at least 300-330 of those days.. i'm sure those 35-65 other days spread out in the year won't do much to you. unless you do it all in a row.
but then again, temptation is temptation.. so never mind..
anyways.. if you ask me, i can only pig out so much before i feel sick. probably because my body likes healthy food much better than the junk food.
18I baked today for charity but I couldn't keep myself for tasting!
19yea, eating this weekend wasn't too bad, although I did indulge in several large pizza slices on Sunday. My main thing is that I didn't go running or any other sort of exercise AT ALL. :-\ There are two reasons why this is bad: 1. trying to lose weight and 2. I'm signed up for a 10K race at the end of August! Hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things soon...
20Well I was pretty good up until last night. Dinner was pasta with mozz brocc and cauli and then I had a bowl of all natural vanilla ice cream, a dark chocolate smore [2 pieces of Ghiradelli dark chocolate with a marshmallow in between], broiled pineapples slices with marshmallows on top, about 6 Saltine crackers, a lot of Redi Whip squirted directly into my mouth, a mini Snickers, and half a bag of dark chocolate M&Ms. A lot of little stuff that all added up to a gain of 1.4 lbs in 1 day. Besides that I was immaculate all day in my eating. Unfortunately my body responds horribly to carbs and dairy. Sugar I can get away with but the thing is it always makes me crave simple carbs. So now I am going to be spending the next couple days detoxing from all that haha
21On Canada Day weekend I went to the US and had to indulge in all the restaurants we don't have up here. Breakfast at Breugger's Bagels (times two, and I NEVER eat bagels), Lunch at TGI Fridays (granted it was a grilled chicken salad, but I preceeded it with those deep fried green beans and chipotle mayo dip), Dinner at PF Chang's (Kung Pao chicken!). I also HAD to have Coldstone Creamery because it's so darn delicious. We were gone for two nights and I still managed to get a workout in at the hotel's gym, and I've been repenting with pretty healthy eating since then.
22i was good except for the cocktails and overdose on bbq. i stayed away from the sweet by telling myself that drinks was more sugar and calories than a whole pie(probably true) and therefore I didn't need anything sweet to add to my count.
23ZERO workouts. Some chocolate. NEED to workout.
24I am guilty of going to Starbucks getting something super bad and then totally ignoring the gym this weekend. Though, last night I did chop up some veggies for the week like you suggested so now I am like even.
25the bf took to Pier 39 and pigged out!
at least it's LOCAL food right...
-FRIED calamari
-clam chowder
-salmon salad
-shrimp scampi
-jambalaya
-pizookie (damn it!!!!)
Thanks, skinny boyfriend...
26Not too bad here. I just know I drank WAAAY too much! I did a lot of walking and bike riding though.
Oh and I made the blondies on Yumsugar, but I did REALLY REALLY good and cut them into 20 servings, and only had a total of THREE over the span of 3 days! So that's pretty good!
27Im right there with you Fit. We had a Luau bonfire/cookout.
Chicken Kabobs
Sirloin Burgers
Brats
German Potato Salad
Cucumber and Bowtie Salad
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
and....
Smores!!!
Oh and Pina Colodas ... Im on the way to the gym as we speak girl
28I ate an entire TJ's soy ice cream (vanilla), a BIG one. like a pint. plus booze on friday. plus greasy chinese take-away yesterday.
29back on track today though, just made vegan enchiladas!
Margaritas and Chips and dip.... although I did burn a couple of calories by swimming in the pool ALL day long!
30I attended a BBQ during the 4th. I indulged in food -- burgers, hot dog, chips, cookies, cocktails, cheesecake, regular cake, etc. This was on TOP of already having two meals that day! I could eat like nobody's business.
The next day, I went back to my healthy lifestyle. I worked out twice over the weekend. I have no guilt about indulging in food. The last time I ate so much was back in February during Valentine's Day, several months ago. So it's fine.
31I had one glass of red wine and a black russian (that I didn't finish). I also had 2 ostrich burgers (which are pretty low calorie!) and a few sweeties.
Not really any excess for me... but I didn't do a bike ride on Sunday like I wanted to. Ended up on the sofa with my boyfriend watching Prison Break. ;p
32Ugh. What a three-day weekend. I didn't eat terrible, but only because I skipped all the festivities. I went out to TGI Fridays one night and chose a meal under 500 calories. But I drank. A Lot. And then some more. I planned on exercising Friday, Saturday and Sunday and only made it Saturday, but at least I did both cardio and strength.
I've really struggled to get back into a routine since I went on vacation the second week of freaking June. Before I was exercising five times a week and closely monitoring my food intake. Now, I am more relaxed on food journaling and only up to three times a week. Tonight, though, I am hitting a one hour strength/cardio class.
33I ate pretty bad over the weekend...and now I've gained a little weight! My weight jumps up and then takes a few days of healthy eating to get it back down. And I'm trying to lose weight, so this is bad!! Does this happen to anyone else?
34Instead of spending the first month of summer running and staying in shape like i told myself, i did literally no exercise. whatsoever. BUT today i went for a 2 mile run, baby steps!, and worked out in the gym with my boyfriend, who is a mean personal trainer!
