All this talk about how polycarbonate water bottles are bad for our health has definitely made me a little weary about sipping from my old Nalgene. What about you? I'm wondering . . .

well, my husband and I stopped using ours, but we're not upset about it. We both use SIGG bottles now and they are great. They are much better than Nalgene - no funny plastic taste (but more pricey)
I still use my clear plastic Nalgene, but not the dark hard plastic one. And yes, I'm really sad about it!
bluesuze, do you know if the sigg bottles are recyclable? i keep on looking for a bottle i can freeze water in but can also eventually recycle... it hasnt been easy
Whete is the option "yes, but I'm not upset because I got a pretty golden Sigg bottle with a Buddha on it"? LOL http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20088327_200496... (looks better in real life)
I was originally upset about it, but like HipMom I got a SIGG bottle too that has a really cool design! Love it!
BTW, nnayap, I read the label of my SIGG bottle and you shouldn't freeze water in the SIGG bottle, because it will cause it to eventually break.
nnyap - yes, you can recycle them - not sure if you can freeze them, check on sigg.com, under "service" there is a FAQ section, and you can also e-mail them if you have furter questions.
Like some of the others, yes, I quit using my Nalgene, but no, I'm not upset about it. Sigg bottles kick Nalgene booty.
HipMom--I LOVE your Sigg bottle! I want one, but it looks like they are sold out of everything until the end of summer (from the Sigg site, anyway).
um, i bought a new one. Camelbak has great ones that are cheaper than Nalgene and BPA-free.
YES, but I'm not upset about it. I have a SIGG now and it's fine. I got it from reusablebags.com
I gave mine up and it did upset me because one of them have my colege logo on it and the other is a cute slim pink one. I may have to pick up that SIGG though!
I have not been able to convince my boyfriend to do the same. He definitely has an invincibility complex!
I always used my sigg bottle in the first place...
Still use mine and not upset, no reason for me to stop using it - the reports are saying 'can possibly cause' not that it will cause. I have more than one bottle that I use though one of them being a nalgene bottle. I do not use them that often though.
I've gone the SIGG route but still keep the Nalgenes around. I used them a few weeks ago when I was canyoneering in Utah because I didn't want the sandstone to tear up my SIGG and I needed a few of them.
Unless you pour hot coffee in your Nalgene every day or try and keep it at close to boiling temperatures for an hour on a regular basis the chemicals can't leach out. So don't quit using them if you like them. But I respect when people want a new color/design for a water bottle, I have 10 different Nalgenes.
I stopped using my nalgene because I am a swimmer and a water polo player and the bottle perpetually smelled of chlorine.
I still use my Nalgene. I'm too cheap to go out and buy something new until this one breaks.
I got rid of our Nalgene bottles and tried the Sigg ones. They are recyclable, but I just don't like the aluminum. It doesn't leave a taste, but I just can't get used to drinking out of them, putting my mouth up to the lid, etc. Also, the cold water makes the Siggs just totally drip with condensation. I think that I am going to try the new Nalgene bottles that are BPA-free.
I stopped using my Nalgene, but I am funny about how big the mouth of a bottle is and the Nalgene was almost perfect. So then I ended up switching back to buying bottled water (really the perfect size top) after not finding a new bottle I liked. Just this past week I bought a new Nalgene because of guilt over my bottled water habit while on the lookout for a new one to love.
I went the Klean Kanteen route, and I love it. My only complaint is that the sip top is sort of noisy, but drinking straight from the bottle is fine. I also appreciate that is is dishwasher safe, as my water bottles tend to get funky. I had a SIGG, but dropped it, to bad consequence (huge dent, bottle couldn't stand up anymore). If you are an REI member, and bought your BPA-containing Nalgene bottles from them, you can get a refund for the bottle, and use the money to buy something new.
tossed the old nalgenes. we wanted to get siggs, but it was too late and only ugly ones are left! sigg can't keep up with the demand right now! crazy! anyway, we found out that nalgene makes a new version called "titan" that is BPA free. so we got those instead...
I noticed some of you say nalgenes give off a bad taste, am I the only one that doesn't get the bad taste for them bottles?
I use a SIgg now and my kids have Klean Kanteen sippy cups.
for=from
I switched to the stainless steel bottles from Thermos: http://www.thermos.com/Product_detail.aspx?CatCode=SPOR&SubcategoryID=20...
I love it! It never stinks like the plastic could...especially after leaving something in there too long. Bleh.

I bought a BPA free bottle from Camelbak and also got one of those Kleen Kanteen's
I use a Sigg bottle now, but mostly because all of my Nalgene's eventually started to taste funny, and there so hard to clean.
Also when they start making Nalgene's without BPA I'll probably get a new one, cause Sigg's are not as camping friendly.
funkygeorge- they do.... the line is called "tritan"

I stopped using my Nalgene bottle and bought a SIGG instead. I love my new SIGG, but I'm upset about ditching my old bottle.
I still use mine. Rather use it than a disposable plastic bottle anyways...
I still use my Nalgene bottle because I don't freeze it, heat it, or put it in the dishwasher, thus, it isn't releasing BPA into the water.
I never had one and I just bought the prettiest SIGG bottle a few weeks ago.
It's not that I don't believe in the cancer studies, it's just I feel like every other week we get told something else is bad for us and I can't cut out everything. I have a couple of Nalgenes and I've been using them for several years and will probably just keep using them for awhile longer. After that, the SIGG seems cool.
I still use my Nalgenes. Others have noted the extreme conditions you would have to put the bottle through to have have chemicals leach out in to your water. Does anyone out there drink hot tea or coffee out of a Nalgene on a daily basis for the decades it would take for you to be in the tiny risk category cited in the report? Perspective needed on this one.
