If you tend to overeat because you're stressed, overworked, or depressed, instead of turning towards food
to cope with your problems or fears, get to the root of your feelings. Satiating your soul with food is only a temporary fix, and after you binge on comforting foods, those emotions will still be with you. So ask yourself what you need in order to make your life (or that particular moment) better. Talk to a friend, your boss, make an appointment with a therapist, or write in a journal. Not only will you feel more relieved emotionally, but physically you won't feel bloated or cranky from inhaling half a package or Oreos.

I never really overate because of emotions; mostly I'd overeat when I was bored. But I do keep a journal and I write down how I'm feeling...it definitely helps keep me from blowing up and yelling at people.
1I overeat because of emotions AND boredom. I try to find activities to distract me and that helps quite a bit. I actually forget to eat when I am busy so it says a lot about other times when I am hungry all the time.
2well when I was a smoker that helped to do that instead of eating BUT obviously that is horrible for one's health, so I am glad I quit doing it but I have yet to find a distraction/alternative activity other than that for when I am bored or just restless...
3I eat healthy when I'm hungry, but I eat a lot of crap when I'm bored.
4Same here, I only snack unhealthy crap when I'm bored and instead starve myself when I'm heartbroken...
5Weird... I always lose my appetite completely when I'm feeling emotional.
6I just sat down with a post-dinner sandwich when I glanced across the room and saw FitSugar refresh and this story pop up on the screen. Oops!
7You're right Fit. I am an emotional eater. It's definitely my health downfall. I can work on transmitting those emotions through a more physical action and be an emotional exercise!
8Overeating because of boredom really is a killer. Staying busy is a simple but great way to not eat as much.
9I've done boredom eating before, but have managed not to recently. I actually can't eat when I'm stressed which I hate because I need to be able to eat to have energy and to be able to do anything.
10i'm definitely a non-eater when it comes to stress & an overeater when it comes to boredom.
