Even if you're a meat eater, you can probably appreciate PETA's annual Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity contest. Voting is now open for this year's awards, which honor one male and one female celeb for their sexy meat avoidance. Past winners include Kristen Bell, Prince, Tobey Maguire, and Carrie Underwood.

This year's list of nominees includes about 100 men and 100 women who practice vegetarianism. It was actually really fun to scroll through the names to see which celebs are vegetarians. I knew about a lot of them, like Natalie Portman and Alicia Silverstone, but others were very surprising. To a see a list of celebs you might not know are vegetarian, read more.

  • Alec Baldwin
  • Petra Nemcova
  • Jared Leto
  • Naomi Watts
  • Casey Affleck
  • Vanessa A. Williams
  • John C. Reilly
  • Jennie Garth
  • Michael Bolton
  • Elizabeth Berkley

Did you know all those people were vegetarians? Who do you think should win Sexiest Celebrity Vegetarian?

The people I vote for aren't well known so they probably wouldn't win. It's always fun to look at these too because you always find a new person you didn't know was one, assuming they didn't become during the previous year. There are actually 2 different ones and for the girls I think I voted for 2 Alisons. Alison Mosshart from The Kills (yes, the band Kate Moss's boyfriend Jamie HInce is in) and Alison Goldfrapp with my multiple e-mails. For guys Russel Brand and maybe Jamie or someone else. I can't remember. It's a shame I always find several people I would vote for because then I end up splitting my votes instead of being able to use them all for one guy and one girl.

I already knew Milo was and it's not surprising Hayden is considering what she spends some of her non-work time on.

I'd be willing to bet Carrie Underwood is for diet and not for animal rights or any other belief.

Actually Carrie Underwood has been one since she was younger, way way before her Idol days.

Yes Annebreal. I came to that conclusion after seeing that Carrie Unerwood is blonde and she smiles a lot. I think that means she is stupid, and I think that means she probably only cares about her diet. Do people reading Fitsugar ever care about their diets? Probably not. Well, probably just the blonde ones...

    Natalie Portman!(I

Tough one. I'd say Alicia Silverstone, with Hayden P. a close second. Only because Alicia has been out in the public eye longer -- since both of them have worked with charities for animals. Alicia's not in it for her waistline alone, which, to me, is important. I've read that Carrie Underwood is simply concerned about her weight. Alicia has been open about her vegetarianism for years now, and has worked with animal welfare charities. Love her!

Why does it matter what the reasons are for becoming a vegetarian? Health and/or environmental reasons are just as legitimate reasons as concern for animals.

Carrie Underwood for sure! She's so beautiful and seems to really have her head on straight.

Hayden P. or Carrie Underwood. If either win then it's okay with me.
