I recently met a couple of moms from my daughters' school for lunch.
When trying to decide where to eat, I mentioned the local pizza place. One of the moms refused though, saying she never eats pizza because it's too fattening. Personally, there's no way I could live without an occasional slice, but since there are certain foods I won't touch (like fried chicken), I had to respect her wishes. So I was wondering, are there specific foods you won't touch because they seem too fattening or unhealthy? Tell me all about them in the comment section below.

Christian Louboutin
Juicy Couture
Dorotennis
I'm all for moderation, but there are foods that I won't touch either. Sausage, doughnuts, fettucine alfredo, and just about anything made with transfats.
1Most fast food I avoid, that's my number one thing. I also avoid meat for the most part, really creamy thick sauces, and most fried foods (I'm a sucker for crab rangoon every once in a blue moon).
2I haven't had any real soft drink in a really long time! I just don't get the point of them. They're such a waste of calories!
3I won't drink liquid with tons of calories(like Gatorade, non-diet soda, vitamin water etc). I'd much prefer water!
4I usually avoid soda/punch and the like. I never really grew up drinking that stuff, so it's not that difficult. I've already cut out all meat and dairy from my diet, but that's for ethical and health reasons equally.
5I will not eat anything with HFCS or transfat.
6i don't drink soda, i don't eat meat, and i try to avoid trans fats the best i can. i adore french fries and pizza every once in a while however.
7I don't eat red meat...and I'm trying to give up soda - but its so hard.
8I don't avoid anything! A little bit of the bad stuff is fine, as long as it's a little bit. If you deprive yourself of all the deliciousness out there, then what's the point? I'd rather be happy and carry a couple extra pounds, than skinny and grumpy! Who wouldn't?
9I'm a strict vegetarian, so meat, non-vegetarian cheeses and gelatine products are a no-go. Actually, after all this time, I don't even think of meat as food anymore! It's funny how your tastes change.
I try to limit my intake of bread and cheese, my absolute weakness, but will have them occasionally.
I'll never eat deep-fried foods, though, fizzy drink (soda or pop to Americans, I think) which is just sugar, chemicals and empty calories, and not really edible in my opinion, or lollies packed with artificial colours and flavours.
10No mayo, ever... Yuck.
No soda/sugar loaded drinks.
11I don't eat doughnuts.
12MAYO is just the grossest thing ever and there is no justification for eating it. On sandwiches, try avocado instead. For dips, greek yogurt is healthy and way more delicious, or even low-fat sour cream . Other than that, cream sauces and soups and anything primarily made up of fried cheese. Yech.
13I stay away from full-calorie sodas. It's just not worth it to me. But fried chicken? I definitely couldn't live without that every once in a while
14I only avoid gross foods that I don't like, such as octopus. Other than that, I'll eat a little bit of anything if I like it a lot. If its too fattening, I'll eat a little, but I'll keep craving it if I dont!
15Nothing deep-fried...I'd rather save my splurging for chocolate
Also no mayo, heavily oiled foods, nondiet soda, and pretty much "fake" foods (no snack cakes, cheetos, sugary "health" foods)
16no mayo or mayo products for me.
17I refuse to eat fried chicken... also, malt beverages just bc hello, drink wine or beer.
18No soda or fast food for the most part and obviously as a veggie, no meat or gelatin (which I stopped having before actually) and I prefer a lack of most dairy for another reason. It's not even anything about being fattening. I just don't find it all that great or delicious to begin with and can do without it. I also have probably also mentioned my dislike of greasy/oily foods. My stomach would agree with me one that one for sure. For some things, I can easily make a lighter version with good recipes or my imagination. I'm currently thinking of how to make a lighter version of that chocolate pie mentioned on yum sugar and chocolate tofu pudding is way better than junky chocolate pudding from the store that doesn't even really taste much like chocolate. Healthy food is delicious as long as someone knows how to make good flavorful food. I don't get why people think junk and excess fat in food is necessary to have an enjoyable diet.
19No sodas, ever. No corn syrup/dextrose/simplified sugars. As little white bread and all purpose flour as possible. I eat an almost 100% spelt diet. And I love it. I try to make my own sweet snacks so I can control exactly what I'm putting into my body. I get addicted to sugar real easy, so I keep an eye on that even though I don't need to loose weight. But I need pizza every now and then. Pizzah!
20I would never eat a doughnut or piece of candy . . for some reason I can never bring myself to do it, no matter how good I am on my diet. I also would never drink regular soda or juice.
21No sugared drinks, only very occasional diet sodas. It's not the type/preparation of food that I avoid so much as where it comes from. The one time every few years that I find myself in a quality soul-food joint, I am definitely tucking into a plate of fried chicken, but you'll never catch me at KFC. I love the occasional burger, but never from McDonald's. You get the idea. If you indulge, make sure it's *good*.
22I try not to limit myself too much, but keep things in moderation and balanced. But I mayo is the devil's condiment
23Nothing fried,no soft drinks loaded with sugar...said absolute no to cakes, candies and other junk many years ago:)
24Nothing fried,no soft drinks loaded with sugar...said absolute no to cakes, candies and other junk many years ago:)
25wow. i eat most of the things people list. haha. but then again I eat them in moderation. I don't like soda tho, never did, which I guess is good.
26I second jdeprima. I will NOT eat a McD's or any other fast food burger, (except maybe Hardee's, I remember it significantly helping a hangover once), but I might on occasion have a REAL one. I also won't go in KFC, but I'll eat my Grandma's fried chicken! I definitely avoid "bad" foods, biscuits, pizza, etc. But NEVER say never. Say RARELY!
27wow..i just restrict foods i don't like, not cuz they have bad stuff in them...i just believe in moderation. i'm not gonna cut out things i like just because they are bad for my health, i don't eat them for every meal. its usually a treat, which for me is a few times a year, sometimes not even that.
28I haven't eat any cookies in years, because I heard 1st it's fatten, 2nd it's not good for skin.
29I'm working on no coffee recently just because it's not good for health.
Also, I only have Coke once a month the most, cuz CO2 isn't good for teeth.
I don't do fast food. I've been without it so long that just the smell makes me sick. I do love pizza, but I prefer the local places instead of chains. I drink maybe one soda a month
30I love mayo on the right sandwich. Nothing is off limits with me. I try to avoid things that I can't keep my portions correct. Like when I eat donuts, I want to have like 4 instead of 1.
31By the way...what is the definition of "fattening"? Anything is fattening.
32I don't avoid anything, though I do try to stay away from caffeine. I just don't like the idea of my body NEEDING the caffeine, I don't like coffee, and I didn't grow up drinking much soda, so it isn't that hard to stay away from.
33liquid calories (except the occassional latte like once a month) fast food, fried food, Olive Garden and other high calorie offenders. When I eat out I rather eat at a place I can't find the nutritional info for. Regular mayo and sweetned applesauce also come to mind
34Several things come to mind... I haven't drank pop in several years, and I don't eat candy. Processed junk food, most things deep-fried, mayo, and doughnuts are all on the list as well. I very rarely eat fast food--only if I'm traveling and it's convenient--and I never eat at McDonald's anymore. Yuck! I consume a very minimal amount of red meat, because I just don't like how it tastes, but I know it's not healthy either. I try my best to avoid HFCS and trans fats. I do love pizza however, I could never give it up! It's just the really greasy kind that's not my cup of tea.
35I don't eat fast food (including sit-down fast food like Applebee's and places like that), junk food, anything with artificial trans fats, HFCS, palm oil or a lot of food coloring. And obviously stuff like deep fried twinkies. I limit my potato intake, but I don't avoid them completely.
36Oh yeah, and I don't eat anything made by Kraft.
37No fast food or anything fried. No heavy sauces.
38Liquid calories, doughnuts, definitely fettucine alfredo... ooh, and mac n cheese. I'm a little bit of a carb-o-phobe, trying to opt for only unprocessed whole grains, avoid sugar (I get addicted way too easily!).
I don't think of myself as 'depriving' myself or never having 'cheats' - but in a life of moderation, those hits just aren't worth it and pizza totally is!!!
39Right on, DooGirl. My thoughts exactly!
40everything in moderation except trans fats and soda!
Actually, people who drink coffee on average have longer lifespans and better memories
IDK why anyone would say it's bad for health.
41I could never give up cream sauces! They're a necessary evil in my books.
Pop is something I avoid - there's just no reason to drink sugar - and I limit my coffee intake (since I can't deal with it unless there's loads of cream and sugar). Green tea is a yummy caffeine alternative. My dentist has noted that I had stains on my teeth the year I was into coffee and colas, so there's just another reason to stay away.
42yep, in addition to being a vegetarian i never eat any fast or fried food, ice cream, chips, etc. i try to stay away from processed foods, refined grains, trans fats, artificial sugars/colors, and never drink soda.
43I would never eat anything that's beef/meat/egg/gelatin. I'm a strict vegetarian. Although as far as vegetarian junk food is concerned, I try to cut it from my diet as much as I can.Like, I won't eat a mc veggie burger fully, I always take a bite or two, satiate myself with the taste and move on, that's it. same goes with desserts. Although, I can't live w/out candy.
44I won't touch anything with refined sugar, refined carbohydrares, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fat, saturated fat over 3 g per serving, only eat nonfat dairy products, and no more than 1200 mg of sodium per day.
45These comments make me sad- some of you are missing out on some tasty foods!
While I believe there are foods you should avoid in general (especially pop), why not let yourself indulge occasionally. There's no point in living a healthy life, if it's not a happy one; and personally, chocolate donuts make me happy
...as do cream sauces, meat, bread,
butter, and most of the stuff you all list as big no-nos.
46I believe everything is fine in moderation. However, I wont drink soda. I haven't touched the stuff in 10 years:)
47I stay from fast food, soda, white bread, and chips. I don't say ever tho because sometimes i just have those random cravings! (thank god it's rare) I don't eat ice cream either.. but that's just because I don't like it.
the only things I can never ever say no to however hard i try are cookies and chocolate ahh..
48I don't eat any fast food / fried food / sodas usually, but I won't say no to them on occasion (usually when I am hungover, ha ha).
49I can't live without pizza or fried chicken! In fact, I just had fried chicken for lunch, and I'm planning to get pizza for dinner!
But to balance it all out, I never get sodas, juices (unless they're 100% from fruit), or any sugary drinks...also milkshakes and Frappuccinos. I also steer clear of fettuccine alfredo.
