Has this happened to you too? You're all excited because you got out of work early to go to the gym. You're ready to hop on that treadmill and do your thing, but wait a minute - what's that awful, overwhelming smell? It's like B.O. times a million. It's like a cross between mold, stinky feet, and a public bathroom.

You take a look around and realize it's the dude right next to you and they obviously have been sweating in that same outfit for god knows how long. Who can breathe with that stench? Motivating to go to the gym can be hard enough, so when I do go, I don't need to smell your stinky clothes while I'm there.

What is the deal with people not washing their workout clothes? Are they too lazy to do a load of laundry? Do they not have time? Do they not realize how bad they smell (I find that hard to believe)? Or maybe they think if they slap on enough deodorant, it'll cover up their musty stank.

When you exercise, you sweat. And when you sweat, bacteria build up, and that's what makes it stink. I don't care who you are, if you wear your smelly exercise clothes in public, it's disgusting.

I don't care if you think, "Well, I'm just going to go sweat in it again, so what's the problem?" It is a problem. Not only does it bother the people around you, but also you aren't doing yourself any favors either. Your sweat contains bacteria and when that gets in your pores, your skin will retaliate by breaking out.

Fit's Tips: So do yourself and those exercising around you a favor. Follow correct gym etiquette and wash your workout clothes before using them to workout in again. If you're already doing that, our noses thank you.
