3Hmmm, I need to get a bit of learning done later on. Thank goodness for the interwebs. I know animal products contain cholesterol we don't want in our bodies but I thought olive oil helps with our HDL. I need to see if the olive oil/HDL connection is true and how that pathway occurs and what its components are called.
4I'm surprised on the cooked pasta serving size since pasta swells so much when cooked. I could see half a cup UNcooked. Interesting...
5Olive oil contains good fats (but not cholesterol) that helps in the excretion of cholesterol. Good fats = n-3 fatty acids. Bad fats = Saturated fat and trans fat. The major portion of cholesterol in our body is actually made by our body. Our body makes cholesterol from the fat that we eat (more from the bad fats). So it's more important to decrease your intake of saturated and trans fat rather than decreasing dietary cholesterol intake if you're interested in lowering your cholesterol.
Other ways to lower cholesterol include eating fiber and plant sterols/stanols. So eat your fruits and veggies and nuts.
