The merry month of May offers so many wonderful things. Aside from bringing you flowers, May is National Bike Month. I love my bike and I love a chance to be public about this love.

To celebrate National Bike Month many cities and metro regions sponsor Bike to Work Day, in an effort to make pedaling to work a more visible and viable option. As gas prices climb and waistlines increase, biking to work can solve many problems simultaneously. Biking to work can turn your commute into exercise, and quite pleasant exercise at that.
The dates of Bike to Work Days vary from city to city, but are generally toward the end of the week – Thursday (5/15) or Friday (5/16). To find out more about pro bike events in your area check out this comprehensive map of events.
Are you planning on biking to work? Tell me in the comments section below because I am truly curious. Don't forget your helmet!

I wish I could bike to work but it's 70 miles each way
1I would love to! BUT it would probably take around 2-3 hours! It takes me half an hour to get there on a good day!
2I saw this on my news the other day.
3I may do it.Seeing as I already walk to work wouldn't be hard
4i've been riding to work once a week for about a month now. it's 9 miles each way. i wasn't sure if i COULD do it, or if i'd enjoy it, but i LOVE it. thinking of adding a second day (i can't do the other 3 days).
right now in northen ca the weather is perfect for it. aside from the horrible headwinds i get on my way home, it's totally doable, and a nice way to transition from work to home.
i'm traveling at the end of the week, so i'll miss out on participating in the official festivities.
5Nashville's was last Friday. I didn't even know it, but I rode my bike to work anyway! I'd like to ride 2-3 days, but usually only squeeze in 2.
YIPEE for bike day!
6I so wish I lived close enough to do this. I commute an hour on the freeway so that would be quite the bike ride, maybe next May if i work closer to home!
7I just purchased a new bike so that I can start bike commuting to work. I live 8 miles from my work so the distance isn't bad but I live in West Virginia so the hills are going to kill me. I like to think of it as a built in workout everyday. 16 miles round trip on a bike everyday through the West Virginia hills; I should be in great shape by the end of summer!
8Distance wise, I could soooo bike to work. Safety wise, I so would not - unless I'd like to get mowed over by a double-decker/bendy bus, or the other crazy raging lunatics who drive around smoggy and polluted London. I'd also probably get knocked off by another cyclist since they're so damn competitive here.
9I also don't understand why hardly ANYONE wears a helmet when cycling in England, especially London. Yes, your tresses look lovely flowing behind you in the breeze, but HELLO HEAD INJURIES?? DEATH??? Ok rant over. I always make my bf wear a helmut if he's cycling to work and threaten to break up with him if he doesn't!
10I would like it if the suburbs were set up where you can ride in bike friendly places. I would mind having a bike with a big basket in front to take quick trips to the supermarket to get some things.
11I bike around a lot in my daily commuting but I am headed in the field this week. So I'm carpooling to the office on Thursday, grabbing a company vehicle and heading out 400 miles west to work for a week. But I'll be back on my bike when I return
Be safe everyone riding especially for bike to work week. Have fun!!
12Hell yeah! I sold my car not too long ago b/c of the cost and now I ride every morning to work, I love it! This morning was a beautiful day in Hollywood and I love bringing joy into people's lives with my viking horns that I put on my biking helmet!
13I'll be riding all week and then some!
I would do this if I could ride my bike on Hwy 41 without dying. So, unfortunately, no bike to work for me. I'll bike somewhere else though to make up for it.
14In Zürich, we have a "bike to work MONTH" (June). I just got myself a second hand bike, so I'm going to use it as often as possible, But walking counts too.
15I'd be biking quite the distance to get to my work...maybe if I lived closer!
