Breakups happen all the time. It's a common thing, but this girl didn't get depressed or turn to food to make her feel better. She turned to exercise, and overcame the sadness by doing something that made her feel stronger both physically and emotionally. If you think her abs already look strong in the before pictures, wait until you see her ab transformation. Talk about sticking to a fitness plan.

I realize that the woman in this video could be seen as a little obsessive, and that she posted her belly on the Internet as a way to get attention. The smile on her face at the end is proof that she's so proud of herself, but I hope she knows that her 8-pack abs don't make her any more lovable for the next guy she dates.
What do you think about this video? Do you view it as inspirational or as a display of someone's poor self-esteem? Have you ever had something in your life happen that triggered you to get healthy or start exercising?

i agree, fit. as long as she is doing this for herself with a positive outlook, i say props to her!
1Yup, happened to me when my boyfriend left me. It wasn't because I had low self-esteem, I just needed something to get my mind off feeling sad and betrayed. And how did it work!
2I was feeling soooo much better, happier, Iooked awesome and my ex-boyfriend wanted me back.... but by that time, I was soooooooo over him.
Sport just helps me with any problem.
haha, i agree...working out is my therapy
3If you're going to obsess over something during a breakup, there are worse things than exercise to take your mind off it.
4I don't think she's obsessive. I think she fueled all that hurt and anger into focusing on herself and reaching a goal. A lot of times when a person goes through a bad breakup, you blame yourself and let it take you to a dark place. I commend her for making something positive out of a negative situation and becoming a stronger person!
5My abs always look the best post boy trouble.
Props to her.
6I really don't think that she went overboard with the ab/workout stuff, either. I think that with the quotes and the song, you can tell that she wanted to come out of the situation on top. I know that when I am super frustrated with life, a run, a bike ride, a good climb, always helps me feel better and get it out. So props that she got great abs in the process of recovering from a break up!
7Good for her for doing exercise instead of eating loads of ice cream which would just make her feel worse anyway.
8I think it's great what she did. Channeling any negative emotions into something healthy & positive for your well being = good in my book.
I don't think she looked bad before... and found the flexing funny
But good for her
for finding an outlet.
9Good for her, but I wouldn't put it on display for everybody. If she did it for herself, why does she have to show the world?
10Because it's a freaking amazing transformation and worthy accomplishment.
11Just as long as you're doing it for you, go for it! Turning emotional stress into fuel for exercising is so rewarding, physical and mentally.
12I think it's really healthy to shift that energy to exercise. I don't think I'd post the video to the internet, but to each his own.
13good for her....working out is def a great stress buster... just makes u feel better
14Good for her - she chose a goal that made her feel great about herself, good riddance to the silly boy!
15omg this girl has a freakin' eight pack!
16sorry but, it looks horrible for a girl, way to manly on her body, not pretty at all. although it was good that she chose exercise intsead of eating, exercise always gets you in a good mood. goof for her i guess...
Good for her!
17It's a lot healthier than working out to look good FOR your guy and then letting yourself go once you break up with him. In my past relationships, I usually increased my working out after breaking up too...it helped calm me down and gave me a lot of body confidence for my next relationship.
18celebrity_soup, she has that 8-pack because she has that little fat on her body...hell, i'd rather be like that instead of trying to conceal my belly rolls every day
i wish i looked like that! gotta keep working hard~
19good tip: kickboxing is a good exercise to do when you're pissed off at a guy!!
20i'm behind her.. i mean i'm trying to do the same and get my abs back in shape.
21My ex boyfriend told me I was fat one day...the next day I lost 185 lbs (of him) and joined a gym. Now I'm healthier than I've ever been and I have a great workout routine. It was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me. Exercise is definitely a great way to deal with a break-up!
22Hmmm, a rough break up had me obsessively plunge into school and work and got me easily into a PhD program.
23I think the fact she took her anger & sadness and made it into a postive is a awesome thing (yes, I said awesome, lol.) Why not get fit and make him realized what he lost "visually"?! As long as you don't go back to the ex-boyfriend, then good for you.
24Alot better than eating junk food through a hard time, it's just when it happens you have to have that confidence and say "I'm not going to sit her and feel bad for myself by eating, I''m going to do something I will benefit from and feel better about myself in the end"
25and thats what she did.
Well Done!
I agree with Celebrity_soup -- I think defined 8-pack abs are unattractive on a woman. It's very masculine. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was looking at man's mid-section, not a woman's. I prefer a woman's body to be somewhat softer, and still sculpted and fit. It's beautiful to have fleshy curves in the right places (Again, it's just my opinion). Also, men find that provocative.
However, with that said, I admire the effort and discipline it takes to get that result. Believe me, I know. Also, I think she coped with the break-up in a more positive way. It's better than hitting the bottle.
26In psychology they call this "sublimation," which is the channeling of negative energy into a socially acceptable behavior such as exercise. That's the best way to take out that pent up rage, frustration, etc. that one may experiencing, without doing a diservice to oneself in the long run. It is the anedote I use in similar situations.
27I don't think there is anything wrong with videotaping or taking pictures of oneself along the way, particularly if it is used as a means of holding oneself accountable. I must admit, putting the images online is a bit daunting to me, but more power to her. I took pictures with my camera phone while in the midst of a similar transformation a while back, but they were strictly for my own consumption. They gave me a much needed impetus when my willpower started to fade by showing me how far I'd come! More often than not, that was enough to get me back on track.
I give the woman props for those fierce abs because that takes hard work and dedication...Now, I'm sure there is way more to this woman and her story than just her abs transformation. I can relate to the breakup pain because I recently went through that myself.
What I would have liked to see also is how this body transformation also translated into her evolving as a person not just her body. I can see how she got stronger but how did she become better as a whole person? How did it help her become more loving, more self-aware, more forgiving (etc), all the things that help us heal and grow so we can move toward another relationship that is healthier and happier. Having a great body is cool, but it doesn't mean that the pain will heal long term or that your life will be better/happier just because you have a hot bod. I just say this coming from the perspective of someone a little older who's been through the cycle a few times.
28Hell yeah! You go, girl!!
29I think it looks bad on her, honestly.
30Good for her for channeling her anger and hurt but she does look a little too ripped for a girl. I think she posted the video to maybe make an ex feel bad?
31Yeah, most women can't get that kind of ab definition because the ligaments over our rectors abdominii are looser than men's are. I know for a fact that I can't get the 8 pack look because my abs just aren't built that way. Even when I get pretty lean, you can just barely see a 6 pack on my abs and the indentations are really shallow. You CAN get surgery to tighten the ligaments (Janet Jackson had it done), but why would you want to?
32I'm sure she decided to post the video as an inspiration to others.
And obviously because she's pretty darn proud of herself.
The gym is one of the best places to be after a break up. With all of your new free time, I think girls would be surprised at what they could do by channeling that pent up aggression.
