Just the term "fermented foods" sounds, well a little . . . odd. Yogurt, an every day fave, is a fermented food. Add to that list the international flavors of sauerkraut, Korean kimchi, and miso. These foods all contain probiotics, lactobacilli created during the fermentation process, which have been shown to reduce breast cancer risk, protect against yeast infections, and boost immunity. They even help with the absorption of the mineral iron. Who knew that a modest bowl of miso was a probiotic powerhouse?

I love fermented foods! From kimchi to miso to tempeh to sourkraut!
1Healthy foods ARE delicious!
I had no idea that the probiotic lactobacilli could help reduce breast cancer risk or that it helped in iron absorption. This is news to me and luckily I think miso is yummy.

10I have the flu and I am absolutely CRAVING the live cultures of Kombucha. I wish some nearby stores would stock this amazing fermented drink.
I have some miso in the fridge though - thanks for the reminder! Love the miso!
11Everytime I've tried miso it tasted very similar to bacon and grossed me out. But I'm good with the other stuff.
