I am always telling you guys about great and new gadgets (useful and not) for working out at home. If you're looking to start your own home gym here is what you may want to include. The starred items are essentials, whereas the others are just bonuses but great if you have an entire room (and budget) dedicated to a gym.

- Exercise Band* (Think about getting a door attachment too)
- Dumbbells*
- Exercise mat*
- Towels
- Bosu
- Jump rope
- TV with DVD player
- Cardio machine/s
- Medicine Balls
- Step
- Bench
- Water cooler
- Yoga props (blocks, strap, etc)
- Fan

What kind of exercise videos would you have in your ideal home gym?
That's really the only thing I'm not seeing. I get so bored doing the same machine cardio all the time, I have to have some variety.
1That's a great list Fit! They're exactly what I'd have plus resistance bands. I'd kill to have my own home gym one day (sigh).
2kelly-o, if you have "On Demand" with your cable company, they have tons of free video workouts in all categories. That's what I do sometimes.

i intend to get
weights and an exercise mat tho. and one of those circular things that you can stand on and twist your body side to side.

Someday, when I have more space, I will have my own gym.
5Okay, I'm going to try to steal this post to ask if anyone could recommend an elliptical machine...a cheap one. I'm wandering between Wal-Mart/K-Mart and the like. I would LOVE to buy a ProForm, but I can't afford that. So...anyone have any advice on what to look for and what to stear clear of?

I bought my Precor for half price (!!!!!) off of Craig's List. Check the site out and see if you can find a deal on a used one.
