When it comes to snacking, I tend to stroll into the kitchen, grab the easiest most appealing bag or box, and start
munching. Sound familiar? The thing is though, if you keep reaching into the bag for more, it's easy to lose track of how much you actually ate, and you can end up eating way more calories than you meant to.
So instead, measure out a serving size or take a handful and put it on a plate. Then close the bag, and put it away. This goes for any kind of snack food you buy— bags, boxes, and containers. Don't eat straight out of the big box of whole grain crackers or bag of nuts either. Just because these are healthy snacks doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want and the calories don't add up.

This is what I do with my Soy Crisps I eat (most) every night. It really does work! I never eat any more than I set out for myself to eat.
1This is so true! Monitor yourself and never eat in front of the TV.
2Awesome tip. It really helps me.
3I have to add that I'm a big proponent of keeping a small pantry. If I'm forced to run out and grab a snack, I'm less likely to just pick up something that I'm not in the mood for and won't satisfy me, but is laying around. Not to mention that I have to really want it to leave the house to get it. Encourages me to shop more often and makes it easier to keep fresh food around, too.
4I've been doing that, and always try not to watch tv or read at the same time! If you do you won't notice how much you've actually eaten.
