We've all pulled a late night at the office. Sometimes late hours can creep up on us with no warning and other times we leave the house in the morning knowing that it's going to be a long day.
For the latter, just like you would pack yourself a healthy lunch, pack yourself a healthy dinner. When I am working late and we order food here at Sugar HQ, it tends not to be the most healthy foods — think pizza, and even McDonalds, ack!
On the occasional late night, I've also tried waiting until I got home to eat but that just leaves me starving. The probability of making smart food choices is highly unlikely at that point.
Not only does having a nutritious meal give me the energy I need to get things done so I can get out of there, I'm not left wondering how many unnecessary calories I just inhaled. So next time you know you may be staying late, bring yourself something healthy to eat for lunch and dinner.

Good idea!
1i actually think its fun to pack meals from time to time!
2great tip
I keep a handful of Larabars on my desk. They are a constant reminder that I need to make healthy snack decisions.
3If I know that I'll be staying late, I bring extra food to tide me over. However, most of my coworkers go out to get food from fast food places when they stay late, which is something I try to avoid if I can.
4I don't usually have late nights at work, being a teacher, but I do have a small refrigerator in my classroom. We keep yogurt, fruit, waters, and sometimes other snacks inside.
I also have a jar of almonds, Kashi granola bars, and some Saltines in my desk drawer!
5It's not possible for me to bring large quantities of food with me to work because I have a very crowded subway ride followed by a long walk. Sometimes even managing to bring my lunch is not very easy!
6Minday... I also keep Larabars stashed just in case. They are like my back up emergency back up calories.
7I really need to get better at this!
8my mom absolutely cracked up at me a few weeks ago when she saw me packing two sandwiches, two apples, two baggies of carrots and two rice krispie treats in my lunch bag for both lunch and dinner. packing two meals sucks but it's so much better than the other option of getting fast food for one of the meals lmao.
