Nutri-Grain Bars - they sound healthy. I bet you know this, but just because a food has the word "grain" in it, doesn't mean it's a healthy whole grain. Along the same line, the word "Nutri" on a box doesn't actually mean the product's nutritious.
I checked out the nutritional information on strawberry filled Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars and the very 1st ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. The 2nd ingredient is corn syrup. What kind of a snack is this?
I found a healthier alternative. Nature's Choice makes Mutigrain Strawberry Cereal Bars and get this - The 1st ingredient is fruit juice concentrate, and the 2nd is strawberry puree.
Another great thing? On the box, there is that little Whole grain stamp so you know it's made with heart healthy whole grains and NOT enriched flour like in the Nutri-Grain bars.
When you bite into one of Nature's Choice cereal bars, you can actually feel the texture of the whole grain oats. They are wheat and dairy free, and the real strawberries and dates make it naturally sweet.
Fit's Tips: Manufacturers will do anything to get you to buy their products. Many of them don't care about keeping you healthy, they just want to take your money. So be a responsible consumer - always read the nutritional information just to make sure you're getting what you want.

1just tasting them you already know what you are getting into, plus this is something they sell in my school's dinning hall...so that gives me the hint of...NOT HEALTHY
L!VE !N LOVE
2Ture gomelalolo, just tasting it's like biting into a corn syrup paste.
3whhy is life so hard, not only do we have to pick things thatt are heathly, we have to make SURE they are healthy... thats why when i shop i just pick up everything and read the labels cause boxes will trick you
4Tip: Don't buy food that comes in boxes.
5Investigate the ingredients. I spend hours shopping because I look at every single listing on the nutritional label. Whenever I think of nutri-grain bars, I remember this woman who bit into one and had to have the tiny grain flake surgically removed from the roof of her mouth because it had cut its way through.
6So relative to some of the awesome options out there in the granola/breakfast/power bar categoryr, these are definitely not a good choice. But if I'm staring at a vending machine and my choice is between a Nutri-grain bar or a candy bar, it's still the better choice, right?
7I never really liked these anyway...
880% of the calories from carbs with only a tiny bit of protein? Nope, not for me!! Natural or not, these are highly processed and not a healthy alternative!!!
9In browsing the internet on nutritious snack I came across this site. It was interesting. I read up on the information regarding fruit bars and had to tell everyone about what I found out there for nutritious snacks. They are called, "Mother's Cupboard". They are awesome! They have apple, raspberry & date. I found them sampling the bars at a Woodmans store in Chicago. They are two local moms who came up the idea for a healthy alternative snack - in comparing to nutrigrain and the others, hands down these blow the others away. Their first ingredient is fruit and the are bigger, offer more to the package and cheaper in price. The didn't do any fancy package like the others but spent their money on what counts, nutritious and cost effective. I met the two mom's and they are truly sweet. There is a lot of heart going into this bar. They are working hard to get them in a wide spread grocery markets and a website so we can get them direct. I remember them saying they are at Woodmans, Sunset Foods, Treasure Island and others in the midwest. Just cannot remember them all. I'm aways rooting for the little guy and these two mom's are people I want to help. Give them a try and look for their website soon they said before xmas. Thanks for listening.
10I looooove the nature's choice bars...the apple cinnamon ones are my fave, especially when you put them in the toaster for a minute to make them all gooey and warm
11omfg.. I just ate a nutrigrain bar, and I couldn't throw it up. I read the back and it said 130 calories and 3g of fat, i feel like f-cking dieing
