I am a fan of holistic Dr. Andrew Weil and when I saw that he had teamed up with Nature'sPath I was more than a little excited.
While I am normally a steel-cut oats gal, sometimes I don't have the time to invest in cooking that oatmeal. For those rushed mornings the Veri-Berry Hot Oatmeal is a perfect quick breakfast on the go. It is made entirely with organic ingredients (even the thickening agent inulin is organic) and flavored with dried cherries, cranberries, and raspberries.

I really liked this oatmeal, although the photo on the box leads one to believe there will be a lot of berries per bowl. It is whole grain, low fat, low sodium, and not too sweet. It kept me full for four hours! A box of eight packets is $4.79.
Fit's Tip: I try using the microwave to prepare the oatmeal once and the texture was a bit like glue. It is so much better to add boiling water, stir, and let it sit for minute.

Thanks for the tips, Fit, especially the cooking one! I'll check this out! I heard Dr. Weil speak a couple months aog and he has some great ideas!
1I too am a fan of the steel cut oats, but I don't always have the time. Nature's Path makes the best instant oatmeal out there. My favorite is the Maple Nut, but I'll be sure to try the Veri Berry!
2yeah not many berries in there. guess you have to cut up some of your own. is the packet considered a cup or 1/2 a cup?
3Fan of Weil too, although he seems kind of heavy for the kind of lifestyle he is for. Anyway I might try this.
4Hey Fit, It would be great if you mentioned the price of the products in your reviews. Thanks for the info.
5Nature's Path and other boxed organic hot cereals are so pricey here in CA but I was able to find items like that now and then at the local Big Lots! I went there for a tennis ball (muscle therapy) and was surprised they had food. I add protein powder to everything so love these cereals.
6If you don't want your oatmeal to have that "gluey" texture, you can always add a little more water to it than what the recipe calls for. I do that all the time because I like my oats a little thinner...kind of like porridge.
7Why not get a container of natural rolled oats and add your own stuff to it? Way cheaper, lasts you much longer, and you can mix it up whenever you feel like it.
Plus you can control how much sugar goes into your breakfast.
It just seems like a waste of money to buy individual pre-packaged portions at such a mark-up.
8Agreed with clarient, this stuff seems like kind of a waste. I bet Dr. Weil would never eat it!
9Meh.
10Clarient makes a good point. I love Dr. Weil, but I'll stick to steel-cut and fresh berries.
11I love oatmeal, I'll keep an eye out for this. Are you sure it doesn't just keep you full because you had it in the morning though?
