If your weekends do not consist of a normal exercise routine, the gym may seem very daunting on Mondays. For various reasons I failed to exercise last weekend, but I was determined to get back on track on Monday.

The problem was that the idea of spending a full hour at the gym seemed like a horrible idea after taking three days off. So instead of pushing myself to do it, I just had a light cardio day. Nothing crazy, pretty easy, but still got me moving. Come Tuesday, I was back in the swing of things. Had I have pushed myself too hard on Monday then I may not have even made it to the gym on Tuesday and my whole routine would have been screwed up. So if you find that you're not exercising on the weekends and having a hard time getting back into it on Mondays, make yourself do something, just go easy. It will make the transition from the weekend into your full blown workout schedule a lot easier.

1I am the same!
I get my saturdays and sundays to laze around...and sundays are also my cheat days for food...
So Mondays are ALWAYS tough! But I force myself to go!
I actually prefer to work out on weekends, no one is in the gym, I can go whenever, take it easy. Mondays I work out with my trainer, and he's super motivating so I usually like MOndays
2That's a great tip. Today I'm feeling so BLAH. I feel a bit stiffened up and I don't feel like starting to move like crazy again. I think taking it easy would definitely make the transition a lot easier and it would still get me moving. Great tip!
3lately, when i'm feeling sh*tty, i do yogacize...sometimes i feels so good afterwards, i go right into my regular workout...
my problem is getting started...once i'm into it (mat out, ipod on, workout clothes on) im good.
4Just walked in the door from the gym feeling a bit down since my workout wasn't all it should have been & this was the perfect post to give me hope for tomorrow's workout!
5I have such a hard time working out on weekends. I usually sleep in, and then there's so much I want to do, so working out gets pushed to the workweek.
6Monday is usually my rest day, because I cycle and run during the weekends. If I have enough energy left on Monday, I usually work out but do something that isn't too tiring, like strength training. Then I usually take Fridays off.
7Saturdays and Sundays are my long days at the gym. For a while I was going in early Monday morning to do a spin class, but since I have no days off I now take Mondays off. Then I feel guilt all day, until Tuesday morning when I'm back at it :/
8I love to go strong on Mondays! It's a great way to set the tone for the rest of the week!
9Yea I tend to go strong on Mondays too! I agree @ Michlny.
10I just noticed this feeling this morning. I work out on Saturdays but not Sundays (well i do light yoga) so when I woke up for my am run this morning I was so out of it and it felt so much harder than normal so I cut it a bit short. The rest of the week will pick up though!
11I also like weekends for long gym sessions; no need to rush home & eat dinner, can go in the mornings or afternoons & get it done.
And, I agree with some others, keep it right up going into Monday to set the tone for the week. Typically I have a break day in the middle of the week, either Weds/Thurs.
I also LOVE Friday Night Workouts, as those tend to be when it is the quietest & even if I go out, I can usually still do that afterwards.
12I really pushed myself yesterday.
13I always take Sundays off and I find that on Mondays, I actually can go a little harder than normal because I've recovered a bit.
