If you're watching your waistline, you're probably watching what you eat, too, not to mention exercising regularly as well. Yay for you and your healthy and possibly new habits, but in truth they can sometimes leave you hungry. Set yourself up for success by loading your cupboards and fridge with healthy convenience foods. Stock your kitchen with ready-to-eat snacks that are healthy, delicious, and packed with fiber. These will satisfy your cravings and keep you feeling full longer, so you're less likely to return to the kitchen for more snacks. Here are some ideas:
- Fresh fruits like bananas, apples, pears, and berries
- Real fruit and veggie juices
- Frozen edamame
- Tomatoes (slice one and sprinkle a little cheese on top)
- Hummus and whole grain crackers
What else makes for delicious and quick snacking ideas? To find out read more.
- Containers of low-fat or drinkable yogurt
- Granola bars
- Dried fruit and nuts
- Whole grain bread and real nut butter (peanut or almond)
- Mini carrots
- Cans of soup
- Cooked brown rice (store it in the fridge)
What else do you keep in your kitchen for healthy snacking in a pinch?

Here's a list of stuff that I keep on hand in my fridge or pantry:
1apples
bananas
baby carrots
Light & Fit yogurt
Laughing Cow cheese and table crackers
Nature Valley granola bars
Sugar-free Jello pudding snacks
Smart Pop popcorn
Roasted Red pepper hummus
I like to make a big batch of popcorn (from scratch on the stove), then store in a container. I also always have Stonyfield farm yogurts, and I love cheese, so I try to keep some lowfat cheeses handy at all times, like 2% white vermont cheddar, or mozzarella with whole grain crackers. mmm. cheese. Also, make sure you have fruits that are already cut up in the fridge, like watermelon or pineapple.
2I always have fruit, yogurt and popcorn. My three standbys
Also I've been eating
more cottage cheese and I got some AMAZING hummus at Costco recently. SOOOOO good. Almost too good, I want to eat it all!!
3I make big pots of veggie soup and freeze it in little containers so I always have some to eat when I want it. I also love to keep apples, oranges and bananas to grab when I need an on-the-go snack. Yogurts are always good and I often put some good high-fiber cereal in baggies and eat them in the car if I get stuck in traffic.
4I eat a lot of those things on a regular basis. I think I'm going to try out the tomato with cheese as a snack and I can't wait until berries are cheaper so I can get some fresh more often. I've been getting frozen raspberries for things like cereal, oat bran hot cereal and to have with my favorite Greek yogurt with honey.
5This week I filled my refrigerator & pantry with healthy foods & I've been eating them. However, at this particular moment in time, I'm craving chocolate ice cream. I absolutely do not want any of the fruit that is in there! I'm seriously considering making chocolate chip cookies right now, because a bag of dark chocolate morsels is the only sweet thing in the house.
Oh, I hope I can out live this craving!
6These things all sound great except I prefer regular yogurt to the drinkable kind.
7I've been on a raisin kick lately... very convienent!
8currently i have mangoes, bananas, yogurt, and popcorn
9String cheese!!!
10Mangoes...if only they were as good here as they are at home.
11All these ideas are great. As for me,i am addicted to apples )) i love them and always have them.I also have pineaples, some berries and watermelon sometimes. Also i always have Popsicles in my freeze. They are only 15 calories each pop and if i have chocolate craving i have Fudsicle which is only 40 calories per pop))
12And i always have gum)) because it keeps me chewing something without packing up bad foods hahaha )))
I try to keep low-fat cottage cheese around, which I love. I always make sure to have plenty of fresh fruit in the house. Oatmeal is a good snack because it really fills me up.
13We have a lot of fruit on hand in the house...strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, green apples, and bananas are our faves. And we're big fruit juice drinkers too.
And I love hummus...I love to dip raw green beans and carrot sticks in it. Yogurt is always great too.
Just can't get into the tomato thing though...I try, I really do, but I just don't love them.
14I have most of this at my apt
15I like to keep frozen berries (esp. blueberries) to snack on, and I usually cover them in coconut milk to get some good fat in. Sometimes I'll make a smoothie with frozen berries & fresh raw pineapple, no other ingredients. Been meaning to try that with the coconut milk, I imagine it's heavenly.
I also keep several 3 oz. packs of tuna around, either to eat plain or I'll toss it in a bowl with some celery, bok choy, capers, olive oil & vinegar for a light, non-sugary midday snack.
Also fond of raw nuts, usually have several different kinds to choose from. When I remember to actually boil them, I'll eat a hard boiled egg as a snack, too.
16I always keep apples around and usually have one on the way to the gym. For snacks I love most of the things that have already been mentioned, as well as tofu (I get squares that have already been cooked and cut it into strips when I'm hungry), cherry tomatoes, and chicken or turkey slices (I make mini roll-ups with hummus...yumm). If I'm in a sweet mood, I like raisins, granola, other healthy cereals (raisin bran is my favorite) with bananas or blueberries on top, and, um, dark chocolate...it's kind of healthy!
