If you're trying to drop a few pounds, you know that you
need to be consuming fewer calories. That doesn't mean you should stop eating or miss meals altogether though. When your body is hungry, you've got to feed it. Research shows that skipping out on eating and ignoring your hunger pains will only cause you to eat more later on in the day. Personally, I know if I skip out on eating my afternoon snack, I'll crave everything in sight and end up stuffing my face and overeating when it's dinnertime. So instead, curb your hunger by eating small snacks or meals, so your mind doesn't fixate on food. Choose foods that are full of fiber (like fruits and veggies) or high in protein (like cheese and yogurt) since those will satisfy your belly and keep you feeling full the longest.

So true! Eat when you NEED too!
1Otherwise those cravings and hunger will get to you!
I've been trying to do this. I have this weird time (after i'm done with work, before my boyfriend comes home from work and we hea to the gym) it's like 2.5 hours and I want to eat everything in sight during that time. I need to just like go for a walk or something, but it's usally my catch up on TV time or reading time and I want a snack. But a snack ends up being a whole bag of popcorn, and apple, some cottage cheese, maybe some pretzels. ugh. Not today! Today I won't eat unless I'm for real hungry!
2I am so hungry right! What am I suppose to munch on that sugar-free but really tasty?!
3I have tried every piece of breakfast advice under the sun, but nothing I eat in the morning can keep me full for more than an hour! I guess that's just my body's way of yelling at me for daring to not eat while I'm asleep for the 7-ish hours prior.
4I am being so careful to eat each afternoon a small snack of protein and fiber, it is really helping for the rest of the evening.
I am careful to eat every few hours all day long. Waiting does make you tend to crave and overeat a few hours later. Not good when you trying to lose some weight.
I also eat a fiber late night snack if I am really hungry even after dinner, it fills me up just fine, stops the cravings, stops the hunger.
Good advice thanks.
5So true!
6I make sure to eat small healty snacks in between lunch and dinner because I am definitely one of those people who go crazy and stuff my face around dinner time if I don't. I've also never been one to think that skipping a meal would help me lose weight. In fact, I've always been told that it could do the opposite!
7I really have to work on this. I don't often feel very hungry because my medication kills my appetite. So I usually plan what I'm going to eat and I try to distribute it evenly throughout the day. It works pretty well...I try to eat a lot of veggies, fruits, and lean protein so I don't get starving and feel like I've got to eat everything in sight.
I've discovered that sometimes when I'm bored, I feel really hungry for no reason. When I find something to do, I stop feeling the hunger. Does that happen to anyone else?
8I'm with you, Spectra: I get hungry when I'm bored. So I start doing the dishes or cleaning or doing some work for school. That usually kills the appetite.
