Aquatic Climbing Wall: Cool or Not?

This 10-foot Aquatic Climbing Wall ($8,000) combines two great warm-weather activities: rock climbing and swimming. It builds upper-body strength and takes the danger out of climbing, since if you fall, you just splash into the pool. If money weren't an object, would you go for a climb on this device?

I think this looks like a TON of FUN! But $8000 is a joke. File this under "If I had unlimited money"

It looks soo cool! But I'd have to research it some more look at engineering etc. to determine safety and also the price needs to come down for sure.

Sorry, not for me. If I'm going to climb on rocks, I'll go do it on actual rocks or at an indoor climbing gym with a harness. The $8000 is not helping, either...that's just ridiculous.

This might just be the only way I'd do rock climbing. If I fall - I splash into the water. Smiling

I hate rock climbing. This just seems like such a slippery slope. And $8000 for something that looks like it belongs in a playground? No thanks!

It looks like so much fun. I know falling is what keeps me from rock climbing.

Good idea but the price is too high and I don't know about the placement of it. It doesn't exactly look safe.

Seems like it would get old fast, but if you're going to fall while climbing this is obviously the lesser of evils.

Great idea, poor execution. My problem with it is that it's too short and it doesn't offer enough variety. $8000 is a lot to pay for maybe two weeks worth of fun and fitness before I grew bored with it. Plus it would be slippery. That's multiple nail breaks waiting to happen. Sticking out tongue

It'd be cool to have something climbable that floats in the middle and once you got to a certain point, it would start to tip over and you had to go faster to get to the top or other side. Then it would become a challenge to get over it, and fun trying.

I love it. Right up my alley. I would love one. . . prefer rock climbing in the natural setting but a great alternative!

This seems like it could be really fun but there are a few things that would need to be changed. First, like others, I would get pretty bored with this after awhile, it would be great if they included different holds and options so you could switch it up (like at a wall) and for $8,000 it shouldn't be too hard! Also, safety would be another concern of mine - how does it secure in and stabilize? Plus, with being wet from the water, I would assume that they would try and make up for that by texturizing the wall in some way, which could make it painful and potentially harmful, especially if the person/child using it wasn't used to climbing!

I would love that in my pool. But I love $8,000 in my bank account more.

This is when it would be good to be married to a handy man

not so sure its the safest thing to do or the cheapest way to do it. I'd try one out at a friends or something but never buy it even if I had the money

how would that be hard. you climb up with two steps and then what, jump off? the one at my gym.. its not in water but we have a wal and it moves so you can constantly climb. for me to even want to try this one it would either have to be higher so theres actually a point to climbing it, or move.
