Generally the starlets begin their red carpet beauty regimen about a week before the Oscars. Treatments like "extractions", an esthetician squeezing out black heads, can leave the skin looking a little bruised, red and irritated. While extractions are ultimately good for the skin, the short term effects can resemble unwanted blemishes.

I know we're a little behind schedule but here is a home treatment for deep cleaning your pores. It works like those pore cleaning strips you find at the drugstore, but all you need is:
1 Tablespoon Knox unflavored gelatin
1-1/2 Tablespoons of milk
- Mix the above ingredients and microwave them for 10 seconds. You want the mixture to be slightly warm.
- Apply the warm mixture onto your nose and chin using a clean cosmetic brush or small spatula. You know to avoid the delicate eye area, but I got to say it just in case.
- Rinse brush immediately.
- Allow mixture on nose and chin to dry for 10-15 minutes. Kick back on the sofa and relax while it dries into a stiff film.
- Peel off the film and marvel at all the gunk that was clogging your pores.
You might want to cool your skin with a cool compress after peeling off the masque. Have fun.

BRILLIANT. I must try this. Those poor strips you buy at the store always irritate my sensitive skin. Good tip, fit.
1I think it's time for me to unclog my pores. Thanks for the tip!
2I just tried this and it worked great. I put it on my forehead, chin and nose. My skin feels amazing. Definately a winner!
3That sounds so comforting. I want to try it!
4The pore strips are soooo expensive, so I can't wait to try this.
5i Interesting...i think i might even have some gelatin!!!!
6I'd love to try this. Does anyone know what part of the store to find the gelatin in?
7Agreed, aragornrain. I would have NO idea where to look for the gelatin. Otherwise, awesome - I hate blackheads!
8Hey ladies -
The best bet for finding gelatin is in the baking aisle or by Jello products. Here's the link to the Knox website so you can see what kind of packaging you are looking for.
Good Luck!!!
9cool
10thanks fit!
so awesome! can't wait to try!
11OK, I've got it on my face...back in fifteen minutes.
12Well, vigilante, you're not back, are you?? (Hehe, jk).
I LOOOVVEEE when you put these in here, Fit!! I haven't tried the sugar scrub yet, but I'm going to...maybe I'll have a home-made beauty day some day!
Free is my favorite kind of anything.
Oh, the geletin is probably in the baking aisle, although some stores keep it in the misc aisle (one store had it by the baby supplies!). I'd just ask someone and make them get it for ya!
13Naw, I'm here!
It didn't work for me. I put it on too thick in some spots and not thick enough in others, and when I finally did peel it off nothing came out. No blackheads, I mean...does that mean I have too clean skin to begin with?
The same thing happens with those pore cleansing strips. People pull tons of stuff out of their pores and I get nothing. I always thought I was doing it wrong.
I'm jealous. I want to see a blackhead on my gelatin!
14Hey, maybe you just wash your face better!
(BTW, those pore stips make me want to throw up...I HATE when people stare at them and analyze them...I understand it's pretty much human nature, but STILL!)
15I guess I must be doing something right, Butrfly! I still see dark pores. Nobody else does, but I do.
Girlfriends and I did those pore strips last summer at the cottage. Everyone had something to go "EEEEWWWWW!" over but me. I felt left out! Kind of a weird thing to feel left out about, eh?
Maybe it has something to do with the amount of time I spend steaming my face. I could fall asleep on that Conair Facial Steamer. Best birthday present to myself EVER.
16Oh, i can't wait to try this. I think i'll get the ingredients tomorrow.
17And i love those clear pore strips but they're so expensive and sometimes they never work. When my husband used one it was so gross but when i use them they only work a little.
i know this is kinda gross, but it helps with the pore strips if i kind of start the blackheads off by applying light pressure so that the dirt comes closer to the surface and can then be extracted better.
18Okay so I'm late on finding this one but I'm glad I did, is anyone still checking comments? Hehe. Question; do you have to use full cream milk for this? All I got is skim, might have to go buy some whole milk.
19i can't wait to try this! there's a packet of knox gelatin waiting in my pantry! thanks for sharing this
20Hell, I'ma try this soon too.
