We are always looking for yummy and healthy things to snack on but it is easy to run out of our own ideas. Sick of the same old thing? Well, thanks to user, mandiesoh, you can try a new snack! Her light snack idea for Chocolate Ice Cubes is so simple, yet sounds so good. Chocolate ice cubes are something that make you think, why didn't I think of that?
"Here's something i do just in case i get a sudden craving for something cold, icy and chocolate-y.
Buy a carton of low-fat chocolate milk (it's only 150 calories per 200 ml), pour into an ice cube tray and freeze it!
Seeing as you'll only eat a few at a time (I THINK!) you'll only consume very few calories while eating something so delish!"
Thanks mandiesoh! Great idea so when you're reaching for ice cream, reach for a few chocolate cubes!
Do you have a snack that is healthy you'd like to share? Maybe bumps on a log or rice cakes with natural peanut butter are your thing. If so, share your ideas and recipes in the Snack Attack Group! I'd love to feature your fabulous ideas on FitSugar's upcoming healthy snack post!

Ooh, I didn't know about that group! I got a great recipe for whole wheat oatmeal and applesauce muffins from SparkPeople that was SO good!
These look really yummy, too! And they have CALCIUM! You can't beat that!
Thanks mandiesoh!
1thanks and my pleasure Fit and butrfly!
do post the recipe, best with pics!
2That sounds like a great way to get a little chocolate, I crave it at least once a day and it's hard not to nibble a little chocolate bar. Another idea that's similar is freezing low-fat or fat-free chocolate pudding in popsicle containers (home-made pudding pops).
3Grl in the world, you should definitely post your pudding pops idea in the snack group!
4What a neat idea!

LOL you should! i used to eat them by the tray, and look where it has gotten me!
i comfort myself w the knowledge that i need to calcium
8This is great! Something else I do for a chocolate like treat is light Hot Chocolate powder with 3/4c of milk and ice cubes in a blender. SOOOO yummy! It really does the trick!
9Mmmmmm, Running Bunny, that sounds good! I'm gonna have to try that.
10Better for me than the Girl Scout cookies that just came out!
11Those look good but they arent healthy if they have dairy in them and soy is bad to so use rice or almond milk. There isnt realy a dif but its better 4 u.
12Why are they not healthy because of dairy? Did I miss something?

There is nothing wrong with dairy, it is very good for you! I would really like to know what you think is wrong with it.
14While I don't 100% agree with missgirlfriend regarding milk, I do know what she is talking about. I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian which means I don't eat any meat but I do eat a little dairy and eggs. I choose organic dairy and free-range organic eggs. The problem with regular dairy is that the cows are injected with hormones and antibiotics which then travel to the milk and consequently, into you if you drink it. The organic milk I drink is produced by a local co-op in my area and the cows are not injected, they are also fed more healthily. I'm originally from farm country and have seen for myself the creepy way that cows are treated, so that is another reason why a lot of people decide dairy is not for them.
15As for soy milk, it actually is extrememly healthy for most people. It's a very good protien source esp. for vegetarians. There is a lot of current scientific research that shows soy's ability to fight cancer. It is usually only a problem for people with what is called "estrogen scensitivity" since soy does contain a natural estrogen.
I WANT TO MAKE THEM!! I LIVE IN A DORM AND THIS SOUNDS GREEEEAT!...question, does the same rules apply to the milk going bad??? or is it kinda forgotten about cuz they are frozen...
that may be a stupid question but i need to know to avoid and mishaps
gracias

17You can freeze milk up to 30 days.

24My children probably would like this.
25I would never have thought of It!!Good Idea!!
26you're right! why didn't i think of this. you could probably make the chocolate milk yourself with a powder and skim milk and that might be even healthier. i bet it would be good for making quick milk shakes too just pop the cubes in the blender. i'm excited, i'm going to go try this. hahaha.
27i had a problem with these...
28after freezing them the ice cubes wouldnt come it!
they were sticky and stuck in there, what did i do wrong???
i let them freeze for 8 hours.
hey soup! im not really sure why! but the way i do it, the ice cube tray is damp/wet from washing, and then i pour the choc milk straight in. maybe the thin layer of water helps to take it out?? i've never had this problem before so im nt sure!
29Yum! What a great idea, I'm a sucker for cold chocolate milk
30I'll def. try this
this is really clever and smart!
31super idea and so simple! thanks!

33OHHHH!!! I completely love the idea! Let me try this ASAP!
34Very creative, very chocolatey... me likes!
35brilliant! I love it!
36great idea! if you made the chocolate milk at home with an organic low sugar mix you can omit even more calories.
